Questor Mechanicus Codex theories

Recommended Posts

So with forgebane revealed (I still think Forgefire was a better name, lol)

My thoughts have shifted to the Knight codex that will arrive and what we'll get from it.

So a bit of theory crafting on my part along with what I've seen.

So the current knights will make the jump across

Warden

Crusader

Paladin

Gallant

Errant

Plus our new Armiger Warglaive friend.

Add to that the

Castellan

Armiger - separate release - maybe an additional sprue?

Helliger - that will have a different sprue for sure

Valiant (or similar name) - alt build for the Castellan? Special character version?

I would guess the Castellan has different builds within the kit, but we can expect a heavier class within the game - 2+ save being my guess.

I reckon the knights might see a slight reduction in points costs too, but that is guessing and I don't anything about that.

So In my mind a 2k army would fit a 3 big knights and a handful of Armiger class knights.

What do we think?

All of this sounds pretty likely in my opinion. A 10% decrease in points would be quite welcome as well (and not too unrealistic).
Surely the armiger gets a different kit of weapons to make it something other than a warglaive? Hopefully we get something in that size that's not equipped with a close combat weapon/one that has two close combat weapons.

I've thought about pulling the trigger on a big knight for a while but it doesn't feel smart now  since they might get some new cool stuff in the near future. Do you know anything about the size of the other rumoured ones, are helligers armigersized and the other ones big knights?

I'm hoping for a dedicated anti infantry option! Something with lots of Dalka! A twin punishers kind of thing on an Armiger chassis would make me do back flips!

Yeah I'd be surprised if something like this wouldn't turn up, or maybe an armiger sized knight that uses both arms to hold an avenger gatling cannon. I'm guessing they wouldn't want to release one of those in this box though since they probably end up being fairly similar to kastelans.

I'd take one with Onslaught Gatling Cannons, really. The avenger is overkill on a lot of targets but doesn't have a ton of shots. I'd prefer more shots at lower strength for an armiger.

Sure, it'd make it an elite killer rather than hordes but it would look so cool! Otherwise a heavy onslaught gatling cannon or a twin assault cannon would be really nice

Hopefully the next Imperial armour introduces the Secutarri, in the fluff they classed as The Titan Guard.

Will also allow for some new units within any AdMech army.

  • 2 weeks later...

So hopefully we'll see the Castellan tonight, so I did a bit of googling to see what to expect weapons wise.

Since in epic it had a quake cannon, I expect that to make the jump to 40k.

Quake Cannon 140" Heavy 2D6 14 -4 D6 When rolling for this weapon's damage, treat any rolls of 1 or 2 as 3 instead. - found on a banesword super heavy.

I'd also expect 2+ armour but a slower speed.

I'm excited though.

What did your rumour say about the Castellan? I heard early in January about a Cerastus sized Knight in plastic do you think we are hearing the same rumour about a taller knight class?

I've also been told FW are nowhere near getting the Fires book ready with the disruption caused by Alans sad passing and another rules writer leaving they are struggling on the rules writing side. I was told not to expect it this year and it's pretty much a wishlist currently?

My timeline goes

Found out about the armiger/castellan/characters back in novemberish time, as well as forgebane, bit not the names for them - descriptions of the models only.

I got a peek at a release schedule that revealed the box names armiger/helliger/castellan/valiant (I think, still not 100% on that) mid January along with codex Questor Imperialis Along with the forgebane box set - I'll admit I thought it said Forgefire, which I maintain is a better name, lol.

Imperial knight renegade mentioned at the same time.

Armigers preview trailer released Feb? With Forgefire coming the other week.

And yeah, the Castellan is apparently bigger than a errant chassis knight.

Basically my informant said to stop buying knights, because this was coming and with a baby due, I'd want to be selective in purchases to have room for the new stuff, lol
