So while I have my 30k thread with my previous Custodes, it's now moving more towards Death Guard so with most of my Golden Boys now 40k related I've started this thread for them... Photo dump!

 

Here is what I have to build and get to a half decent state for March 23rd! :sweat:

Shield Captain:

I gave him a spear to differentiate him and decided I also wanted his Misericordia drawn to show his authority. The scabbard of which is on his back still :wink:

Vexilla:

Not much to say, I gave him the fancy shoulders etc.

Allarus:

I tried to give these guys as varied poses as possible. It's a damn shame there are no "two-handed" stances in the kit. Used some green stuff in the arm joints to get more out of the Axe arms and make them at least different angles.

Bonus - Custodian Guard:

Picked these up for a decent price to bulk out my troops. Will change the bare head to helm, maybe have him as a Shield Captain as he has a cape.

Wow you don't mess around! That's a serious photo dump (not to mention the purchase!)

 

Good start on the troops, you could probably fly through these guys. 

 

Been sitting on the boxes since release waiting to get my Ad Mech done!

 

I bought the troops in their current state so not much work done from me besides a photo :P

T-1 full week of prep time until Apoc.

 

Bikes are built, including shield captain with Saggitarum head (as I seem to be doing for them!) and FW Gyrfalcon Lance.

 

May skip the Wardens (bar a Vexilla?) to save on time and I mostly got them to be Hetaron for 30k so would like to plan/ magnetize which I do not have time for right now!

Honestly, I bought the Wardens box to make a really great-looking Vexilla and Shield-Captain.  The fact that it leaves me with enough for one minimum squad is OK, they'd kind of be like the bodyguard for the Captain or something.

Do you think taking Guilliman as your warlord is worth 3 extra CP over impregnable mind warlord trait?

 

Depends - remember this is Apocalypse (and it's MASSIVE, I think currently Power Level on each side is 2300!

 

Out of my 500 or so PL I only get one Warlord and this is across Blood Angels, Custodes, Ad Mech + some random Imperial bits of Celestine, Sisters of Silence etc. And I have Cawl, Trajaan & the Sanguinor etc 

 

I'll have one CP pool from all of these armies for my strats too, but I can see most of these going to Ad Mech Mortal Wound Spam + Custodes strats.

 

Currently I'm thinking making my Jetbike Captain to get Superior creation and turn him into a monster with the 5+ FNP.

 

OH and we are "Team Small Fry" as the otherside pretty much has an entire Titan Maniple (Warlord, 3 Reavers, 5 Warhounds) and a fleet of the Imperial Navy on their side, plus a couple Knight Houses 3-6 strong...

It's "we did what we could to balance the power levels as our Eldar player who has Titans and enough beautiful Biel Tan to fight us all wants to use his beautiful new knights instead as Macro Weaponry will one shot his Phantom" and I guess I don't blame him.

 

So one side:

About a company or so of Raven Guard (Thunderhawk included)

Like, 10 TITANS

2 Knight Houses

LOADS of Guard

Lots of big Imperial Planes

 

Our side:

Loads of BA (me and Jolemai!)

Ad Mech

Custodes

Lotta Chaos including some big bits

Couple Knights

 

 

So not ideal... But best we can do.

 

Also - build Celestine and her gals tonight. What a ridiculous kit. Too many tiny bits for sure.

Wow you’re really on fire with this. Great job. I love the bike idea.

 

I wish I had used my last batch to do Celestine. I hated putting her together and I did it in one assembly so I see you did the smart thing by doing sub assemblies for painting her.

I made the mistake of using a almost empty can of primer and it blobbed on two sets of Allarus, so I lost a lot of detail on them cause it was thick. I wish we had a can gold primer. I will probably steal your plan for the bikes, they look really cool in grey with gold. Edited by HCMistborn

Cheers man, I have to be - Apocalypse is on Friday and I need to get these to a half decent state. At least clear bases eliminates on problem...

 

Celestine and gal-pals are the worst models GW have produced in recent memory for assembly. Like holy :censored: ! Totally awful. They look nice but I'm baffled. Hopefully an eventually widespread SoB release they won't be so fiddly :verymad:

 

 

Those new kits have a ton of detail. :eek:

Been there, done that! I was most cautious of my Mephiston Red Spray, it completely ruined an entire (brand new at the time) BA Tactical squad back in 2o14 :ermm:

 

The same can has come through for me on the commander capes though!

Okay so another night's work has left me here...

 

Bike idea has worked a treat and will obviously improve once I have some shades on. Red and brown are all down on everything too. I did Trajaan's cape on Khorne Red instead of Mephiston in the end ((painting over the Meph spray) to give it a bit richer colour. You can't see if but I am a fan.

The grey bikes are looking much better than they have a right to in my head. Excited to see where you are going with it. They definitely stand out from most of the bikes people are posting and what I’m doing myself.

The Blood Angels are on route but they will need support. Heresy such as this demands the highest response;

 

Send the Captain-General.

Belisarius Cawl shall recover the God Machines for the Imperium.

We've also heard that the Sanguine Vision chapter are en route, lead by a Mysterious Avatar of the Angel himself.
