Ice's game/paint blog (mostly sisters)

Recommended Posts

http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/345303-2k-sisters-of-battle-with-an-imperial-knight/

This was briefly started, over the army list, but now I expand this here.

Minor order (assuming sister fluff does not change much with the codex)

Order name: TBA

Home base: Terra

Honoured Saint: Alicia Dominica

Primary colours:

Scarlet robes, blue armour.

I will get some better pictures of the miniatures during next week. Plan is mostly for me, to motivate myself to keep painting and trying cool/fun/fluffy lists.

Here is the rest of the pics from the match. (New Necrons vs Sisters + Knight. 2k points.)

Some updates. Since I don't have any repressors at hand and still having plenty of Immolator kitted rhinos. I decided to make some repressor conversion kits. Since I love my paintwork on exorcists. I decided to make them too convertible, so I get an excuse to field them!

Furthermore, I will magnetise the bulldozers and spikeyram bits on immolators to ease transportation.

Alright, repressor wanna bees, nearly complete, just some small touching up to do.

Oh and yay, plastic sisters! Really helped to motivate to (nearly) finish these.

work done:

finished Heavy flamer/storm bolter repressor turrets, 5 hatches and 2 of the 4 dozer blades.

To be done:

Repaint rest of the side hatches to gold. Finish the two dozer blades. Tidy up the magnetize process on front of the immolators.

Pictures of a match that I managed to play today.

Finally half decent pictures of my infantry, sadly Seraphim still lack the finishing paint.

Third picture shows, the plans I have for freehanding the dozer blades.

...and my first attempt at freehanding a imaginifer banner. Challenging work to make those look any good!

thanks for the question! Story time!

4 pictures under spoiler button.

First is now around 12 years old, the miniatures and paint being even older. (puuh, time flies by!)

Picture shows my original colour scheme back then, it was heavy inspired by a ultra highlighted Whitedwarf army paint back in the day. (But I have seen the japanese paint scheme you talk about, but the actual WW2 inspiration is from the Battle of Berlin era Panther Is and IIs)

Additional reason would have been, that I did not have "red themed" army back in the day. As I had yellow Imperial Fists, Blue Eldar, Blue/White Sisters. Idea was emphasized by a Mars iron oxide based terrain camouflage.

2nd pic shows my Converted Callidus assassin, which I employed im my match. Furthermore, picture presents, repainted commanders from first pic.

3rd pic actually shows my modern Imperial guard... I mean Astra Militarum Camouflage. The red is actually a bit distorted. It is old Redgore base and Bloodred highlights. Left Platoon Commander, middle: Company Commander, right: regular trooper.

Due to their fluff they have Fleur de lis on their shoulders. (I won't get into that any further.)

4th and last picture presents, my old paint scheme on the Canoness (good old days while they had jump packs :tongue.:) . My current Imaginifer banner on middle and finally on the right the "modern" paint job of the sisters of battle. Canoness will eventually get her touch up, up to date, after I finish all the unpainted ones... Which I still have a substantial amount...

Another update. Was pretty sick over the weekend, so not much process this time.

Seraphim squad finally finished. still got another 10 to do, hopefully before the arrival of my 2 immolator kits and the celestine box.

Another match complete. I even got embarrassed for lacking a fully painted army :/ I need to get the celestine asap.

Interesting match, for each turn dominions managed to melt a knight. Furthermore, Celestine(proxy) managed to murder people on melee. Only disappointment was seraphim, who met their messy end via Imperial Knight's avenger gatling cannon on the first turn.

Plans:

Finish 4x heavy flamer sisters. Find a good backpack solution for seraphim. Sanguinary priest wings maybe?

Alright another update.

Flaming monstrosities, called heavy flamer sisters got completed just before my last match. Initial impressions were good! Immolator with 6 woman retribution team with 4 h.flamers, managed above my expectations, they turned plenty of evil necrons to molten slag.

match ended with me tabling my opponent by the end of turn 5.

Next plans:

1st: I got a rolling pin and clay for base making, no clue how it will work, but I think it is a worth a try.

2nd: Get penitent engines painted in some level. They were hilarious during the last match and I would love to field them again.

When using the texture rollers, I also bought some of the sculptor's vaseline from GSW. It really helps to keep the greenstuff from sticking on the roller and helps reduce fingerprints that may get left on the clay.

Sounds like a good game! Which mission did you play?

Also what was your list/opponents list?

I don't have the exact lists but in rough summary

Me: SoB, with 2 repressors 2 immolators and a rhino. 2x dominions with meltas. 2x retributors one with h.flamers one with h.bolters. 2 canoness, celestine, 3 imaginifer, 6x 6 person SoB squads, 2 times 7 person seraphim with inferno pistols. and finally a pair of penitent engines.

Enemy: a lord, Cryptek, Orikan , Nightbringer, 2x5 immortals and 1x12 necron warriors, 10x deathmarks, 2x6 scrab blobs, triach stalker, 4 heavy destroyers, lychguard, destroyer lord, Praetorians and bunch of wraiths.

Game was around 2400 points and we had some maelstrom mission that I can't remember anymore.

Celestine took two wounds of nightbringer and melta dominions finished him(it) off. For wraiths I just let them rampage around, till I got my penitents there, which proceeded to munch them easily. 2 penitents = 8 attacks hitting on 3+ and reroll. wounding on 2+. With 3 damage one wraith dies per failed save. Usually I kill wraiths, either with melta spam or by something else.

I need ze help! or advice or options... or whatever...

First test batch of new bases has been completed. I could use some opinions and advice how to make these better. Like how to prevent the gap appearing between the base and the clay? or which colors work and so forth.

When using the greenstuff on my bases, I use a hobby knife to cut the greenstuff at the same angel as the base. If that is not possible, you could put a thin band of greenstuff around the entire base, thus hiding the gap.

Pfff, first batch of 11 bases complete. 80 ish more to go.

In future I will make a bit thinner bases, but I try to keep them individual during the paint process. different hues of marbling and grey. Just to mix things a bit.

Kinda liking how these are turning out.

... should I add grass? Might have to do some testing with that.
