Legion allies question

So I wanted to add some Death Guard to my SoH in a shattered legion list, however, I cannot take creeping death in it.

 

My way around this is, could I take a creeping death DG allied detachment with a regular AoD SoH main Detachment? Creeping death doesn’t allow you to take an allied detachment, but does that preclude taking it as an ally?

I'll double check my rule book, but I am pretty certain that rites like the death guards creeping death are only available to the primary detachment.

It's absolutely precluded, as it's one of the Book VI Legion-specific rites. There's a foreword section in both Book VI and the LA:AoDAL that mentions this.
