How many points is Hector Rex?

This isn't a thread to ask for his points!

 

His value in IA Force of the Adeptus Astartes doesn't include cost for his Wargear.  His points are listed in the "Imperial Armour Character Apendix".

 

He comes with the sword Arias, a Storm Shield, a Bolt Pistol and Frag & Krak 'nades.

 

The cost of the Sword is listed later under the Grey Knights, Inquisition & Sisters of Battle Points Values. 

 

Bolt Pistols are listed earlier, under the Adeptus Astartes section, as are Frag & Krak 'nades.

 

The blurb for the GK, Inq & SoB sections states;

 

"The following list should be used to determine the points cost of any Grey Knights, Inquisition and Sisters of Battle units included in the army".

 

But.

 

Hector himself, the Bolt Pistol and 'nades are *not* listed there...  The blurb for the 'Adeptus Astartes Points Values' section, where Hector himself is listed state;

 

"The following list should be used to determine the points costs of any Space Marine units included in the army."

 

But Hector is not a Space Marine unit, and does not have the Adeptus Astartes or <CHAPTER> keywords.

 

And even more confusingly, there seems to be no cost for a Storm Shield *anywhere* in the IA points lists (for any section in the book).

 

So how much does Hector Rex actually cost, and where should we get the points from for him?

Bolt Pistols and Grenades normally cost nothing... so they're unlikely to be an issue.

 

If he's classed as a Adeptus Astartes unit, then the best solution I can think of is to use the Storm Shields (Characters) cost as listed in Codex: Space Marines.

 

But that's only ever going to best guess. To get an official answer (if the printed rules are incomplete, as they seem to be), the best course of action would be to contact Forge World and ask for it to be addressed in their next FAQ update.

What classes you as Adeptus Astartes unit?

 

He doesn't have either the Adeptus Astartes keyword nor a Chapter keyword.

 

I Don't think we can, or should, use codex space marine points for him.

 

Off hand, can't remember if the Inq section in Index 2 has costs for Storm Shields, but i don't think they do.

Not an option for Inquisition currently.

 

Two values in Index: Imperium 2:

 

Adeptus Ministorum (Crusaders): 0

 

Adeptus Custodes: 5

 

In Codex: Grey Knights, Draigo’s storm shield isn’t listed in the points section, so is presumably included in his base cost. Perhaps the same’s true for Rex?

For what it's worth, Battlescribe assumes his points cost to be 105. This would imply they've used the points for a Custodes storm shield from Imperium 2.

 

We all know Battlescribe isn't perfect, but is there a reason you can't use the above points until told otherwise by FW?

Is there any reason we can't think he's 100 points, and the SS is either included, or costs 0?

Admitting I’m extrapolating from only three points of data, but the precedent seems to be for units which must take storm shields to have the cost built into their basic cost.
