Not later then 31 of March there are a few changes for us in terms of gameplay or/and for our beloved chapter or/and units.

To this point we have no informations, no rumors or anything like that ( what really surprise me ).  But there are a few things that need a change - and "NU GW" will change it - i am positive of a massive boost especially for close combat space marine armies.

 

What are your thought/expectations about the errata/FAQ.

This GW is still way better than what we used to have. People keep forgetting how bad things used to be. I'm optimistic.

This. What we have now is light years ahead of what we got previously

Its only an errata, Im not expecting anything mindblowing but its nice that they created this system. It will probably be released by Monday.

There was just an errata which fixed Razorflock Spam

I am not such optimistic like a lot of people here because GW makes a whole bunch of mistakes again - but they try to fix it. Such things needs its time. Maybe longer to make worse units good then fixing OP-units because people scream louder if there is a model which is too strong in gameplay then complain about that something is too weak.

Because I believe Adepticon ends on Sunday and I think GW is waiting for it to end.

 

Yeah, it seems very realistic that they waited that event to end up with the old rules.

After the previous let-downs I've suffered with regard to the treatment of Codex: Space Marines and Black Templars specifically, I am not looking forward to this at all. However, I can't wait to finally experience at first-hand the "new GW" everyone's talking about. It would be nice if the update made addressed some of the odd point costs of some things in the Codex and made Space Marines more competitive overall.

Expecting almost certainly will be a limit on 'commander' type HQs across the board, similar to the T'au rule, so limit on 1 Captain, Hive Tyrant, Nemesis DK grand master etc. per detachment.

 

As for anything specifically Templar related I doubt it, it's just an errata, maybe some points cost changes, further reductions on Terminators maybe would be nice. Other than that I think it will be very unlikely to see much change. The main focus needs to be on tackling all the spam (which is a good thing!)

i dont think that Templar getting a special place in this errata - but space marines melee units. And thats indirectly what makes that special for Templars.

 

What are you expecting them to errata about melee units?

Because official Space Marines have a mixed codex - half melee half shooting. Not like Tau, Daemons or Imperial Guard. But in terms of gameplay all people call Space Marines a shooty army because they are much stronger in shooting then in terms of melee.

 

And we talk about Nu GW,... so I think that there will be a few point changes and maybe rule changes.

 

- better Terminators

- better Assault Squads

- maybe better chainsword rules-

- better reivers

- maybe a few stratagems/changed stratagmes.

Your hope is admirable. Personally I dont think flat out buffing those things is a good thing mainly because the way the codex works having ok melee units is fine when they are supposed to work with shooting elements that are buffed by their tactics or stratagems, you buff all those things and BA shoot up into absolute OP but if you make those buffs situational (Stratagems, Characters, etc) then you can balance things with more granularity.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if we got any of that. I know that GW has done a good job so far of being a better game company and I hope that continues, but if we see any kind of buffs from the errata I'll be pleased.

And looks like we have to wait longer to find out as they've delayed the FAQ/errata even further.

 

I can't really comment too much as i haven't actually played my Templar on the table top yet (I have a "thing" and can't play with unpainted models!) But seeing friends various Space Marine armies they certainly need something.  I'm all for balance, and this edition does seem the most balanced yet so we shall see.

I honestly doubt that'll happen. At least not this time around and not for units like the generic Captain etc.

 

 

I also feel like many of you expect way too much from this FAQ/Errata.

Scouts are generally considered to be better, competitively, than Tacticals based on their Infiltrate.  Better units shouldn't be cheaper than worse ones, and Tacticals for their points cost don't make a good heavy weapons platform it seems?  Seems obvious to me.  Doesnt mean they'll do it :p

yes... because in this edition a 3+ armor save is not that strong. Scout price have to stay on 11 because they have a very very good special rule - Crusader Neophytes shouldnt cost the same. In generel Space mainres are too expensive but i think this would never happen. I think we could be happy  by cost reductions for our Neophytes and maybe a few special rules for close combat . But I wouldnt expect too much.

for most cases i dont expect too much but little cost reductions for Terminators and maybe no negative modifier for power fists/heavy weapons seems very realistic.

in germany we say "Vorfreude ist die schönste Freude"

 

means nothing is good like to be happy for some things we expect^^

 

And over last years hope was a very needed thing in this forum by 6th to 7th Edition treatment to us.

 

The optimists here don't want a new FAQ or Errata. They want a new codex.
