Command Squads...

Are we allowed to have as many of these as we can fit in?  Just seems too good to be true to fit three squads of four guys with a melta gun or plasma gun each in a Chimera...

Seems a good alternative to Marauders as they can take a heavy weapons team also for some deployment flexibility depending on opponent.

This is the benefit of being a FW army and them hardly working. We do not have restrictions yet, so you can go for it. Overall I find Disciples to die very fast, so going with smaller troop really depends on if you know what the other playing will be going for.

Sadly, Renegades and Heretics Command Squads can only take 1 special weapon per squad.

If you're using the IG Codex to play Traitor Guard then, yes, your command squaf can take 4 special weapons per squad but you can only take 1 command squad for every officer you field.

But even at 1 special weapon per squad, I've gotten some good mileage out of taking 1 or 2 R&H Command Squad with 5 troopers, a bazooka, a plasma, and a command net vox. They sit back with my Earthshaker carriages plinking away at the foe and (sometimes) buffing my militia squads' leadership.

I need to model and paint up some lascannons. That would increase my command squads' damage output that much more.

That's what I mean... it's three bodies to protect each special weapon and no overkill, you can fit those three squads in that chimera, you have three special weapons... exactly like an Astra Militarum veteran squad but with two extra wounds (12 v 10 bodies) and three seperate targets... seems like a good deal to me.

Hey Tamika, good to hear youre still rocking Renegades too.

No restrictions that Im aware of, CA or otherwise. But if its going mech borne - I think Marauders win, especially with the free specialist skill (esp Hereteks)

That said as a gun pit unit for a BS3 Lascannon, Disciples/Cmd Squads aren't a bad choice if you dont care about deployment drop numbers. I sometimes include some supported by a long range heavy like a Russ or a pair of Basilisks.
