Allied knight house

So, I bought the forgebane boxand traded the crons for an imperial knight with a friend.

I plan to use them as allies for my ultramarines in larger games and maybe in the future as part of a not yet existing admech force.

I was wondering what knight house would have the strongest bonds with the ultramarines, what house has the strongest bonds with admech and is there a house wich is tied to both ultra's and admech?

If not I might look into creating a freeblade with two armiger companions.

From the Lexicanum page:

http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/House_Terryn

"In M41, House Terryn has come to blows with the Tau Empire on multiple occasions due to their Homeworld Voltoris' proximity to the Eastern Fringe. These include the invasion of Voltoris and the Prefectia Campaign.[9] They later came to the aid of Ultramar in the Plague Wars."

Though the paint scheme is not particularly suitable for a contrast to your army if that's what you want.

Thanks for the feedback so far guys.

All very workable ideas.

I quite like the house raven colourscheme, but I’m more drawn towards heroic acts like that of house terryn as pointed out by Idaho.

I guess I’ll look into lexicanum myself to read up on fluff.

Anyone got some other ideas, or do these two houses make the most sense.

Consider House Hawkshroud too, they swear oaths of fealty and honour to other organisations, fighting with them in times of need, even partially adopting their colour scheme. But it does mean painting yellow.

Or look up Auric Aranchnus, Freeblade who fought at Macragge during the Tyrannic war. (Also has lots of yellow...)

I would advocate for House Vornherr. Fluff says it lost almost all of its knights at Calth but I think one could use it in 40k, too. May be they used the past 10k years to rebuilt their strength.

It's what I will do with my knights. :)

I say fluff is very important, but the rules and the chance to make up your own fluff is nice.

What I did was paint mine to look somewhat like Raven House, but leave it ambiguous enough to be any house I want. I didn't even put decals on mine yet, just in case:

But I would advise holding off unless you're just looking for a cool scheme, because as mentioned the rules are right around the corner.

Thanks for the feedback guys! There's a lot of good considerations.

I like the Vornherr colour scheme and the fluff sounds good too.

Same goed for the hawk shroud fluff, but unfortunately I'm not to keen on yellow.

Meanwhile I assembled the Armigers with the armour not yet on it, like duncan does in his video, so I can postpone the decision of knight house till the codex drops. I doubt however that the rules will influence my decision.
