Help with 3rd ed Dark Eldar models

Hi all,

 

I was hoping the helpful brain trust, would be able to link or share pictures of the Dark Eldar third edition weapons.

 

My army is all older models with the exception of my fighter jets.

However, I have not been able to identify what weapons they have, and my third edition codex has been lost to time.

 

Ideally I intend to use these old edition models, with some head swaps etc, for my Kabal of the Flaming Rose.

I'm intimately familiar with the range, though I don't have pictures to easily provide just at the moment. Are there specific bits you find puzzling?

 

Here are some general principals. Heat lances and haywire blasters didn't exist back then. The metal special weapons for Reavers were blasters and shredders. Shredders are the ones with the two prongs on the barrel.

 

The Raider kit came with a dark lance but not a disintigrator, even though the latter was an option. If you wanted disintigrators, the only way to get them was from the Ravager kit (or Vect). Thus all disintigrators are metal.

 

For whatever reason, the vehicle-mounted dark lance looks significantly different from the version carried by infantry.

 

Scourges could only take splinter cannons or dark lances, so that's what's on the models.

 

The only weapons produced in plastic were splinter rifles, pistols, and cannons.

 

I'm probably forgetting something relevant, but I hope that's helpful.

Oh! Wych weapons were different, except for the shardnet & impaler. The predecessor to hydra gauntlets were hydra knives, which was a pair of squiggle-shaped blades, and before the razorflails, we had the falchion & razorsnare, which was a sword in one hand and chain hook in the other.

 

You could potentially use old Grotesques as Wracks.

 

Mandrakes used to have splinter pistols instead of balefire. I'm still debating how to update mine, though I've heard of people using them as Wyches.

 

There were two Haemonculus models who weren't Urien Rakarth. The male has a scissorhand and liquifier; the female has a stinger pistol.

 

Any fancy melee weapon you wanted to be an agonizer was an agonizer, not just whips.
