Deep strike debate

TURBULENCE

Recommended Posts

Sup with the termite release upon us I'm having a bit of a internal debate right now. I know my death guard are the one army I have that will reach apocalyptic levels, and at that level I'm going to want to have deep strike options.

So with that in mind the question is termites or dreadclaws?

If it was me I'd more take Termites as not only are they cheaper unlike Dreadclaws which are fast attack the new drills are dedicated transports so you can take more of them in the same dettachment without using up valuable fast attack slots which are much better being used on drones or blight haulers.

A full plasma plague marine squad with a combi plasma lord in tow will be amazing to emerge from the ground right in the midst of the enemy to rain plasma upon the enemy sure you have a chance to get something eaten at least you get to choose so any characters inside will be safe

Nope no Terminators can use them though everything else that is infantry can so Plague marines will probably be the best ones to use with them otherwise you can fill them up with Poxwalkers, cultists or Possessed

Here's the rules

The Termite Assault Drill is a vital addition to a Death Guard vehicle selection bereft of affordable deepstrike transportation. It is 106pts for a transport with better weaponry, toughness, and a larger troop capacity than the loyalist Space Marine drop pod. The machine can move in subsequent turns to support the infantry it delivered and is a powerful explosive when it is destroyed by enemy weaponry. Overall, the Termite Assault Drill will be a welcome in my own collection as it gives many of the Deathguard support-staff the transportation they need to be competitive.

I look forward to adding this siege weapon to my forces and detonating it amidst the enemy's line.

Wow... yeah, that one wins. I'd say (at least in my case) something like that is a more economical option if I chose to go massed Termites as opposed to the FW model. Looks a bit smaller, however.

Honestly I'm just thinking of going dual Rhino's.

I'm thinking T1, you advance the rhino's, and pop smoke.

Then use the rest of the list for distraction to some degree, and next turn you're ready to get out and do your thing, and really I just want to get 10-18 Plague Marines in the mix, with supporting cast.

You can pop smoke after advancing?

It the concensus around here.

Mostly because the wording on smoke launcher "is instead of shooting any weapon in the shooting phase it can..."

But since it is not a weapon itself it is not restricted by the advancing rules "...that unit cant shoot or charge later that turn"

Doesn't an outrider detachment pretty much mitigate the "using up valuable fast attack slots..."?

Actually no as "Using up Valuable Fast Attack slots" means not wasting a fast attack slot in which is much better off being used on a drone or hauler over a expensive dreadclaws that is only good for transporting squads especially when there is now a new unit that is basically half the price and does the same job

Yes you could take an outrider detachment but then you need another hq to unlock the dettachment plus at least 3 of them just to fulfil it that's over 600pts just for three dreadclaws plus an hq
