I'm taking part in a small narrative "tournament" in a couple of months and am planning on running the below list.

For the record, Relics are allowed, and named characters are not.

If you think I've missed something major, or have a rule wrong in my composition, please let me know! Otherwise, if you have any suggestions for tweaks or cunning ploys, please shout!

The plan is for the Praetor to run with the Palatine Blades and an apothecary, while the Librarian (using Prescience) joins the Veterans, again with an apothecary.

The Lucid Blade is a waste. It's not AP2, and you won't be able to attack on a turn in which you use the Master Parry (in the same way that a Chainfist doesn't get Concussive if you take a Chainfist/Thunder Hammer combo). it might be worth double checking with the tournament organizer, as most don't seem to use them.

You can save points by not taking all Power Weapons on your Palatines; you're using Prescience and can cast that on Rending Charnabal Sabres. You can save points by taking an Anvillus Dreadnought Pod instead of a Dreadclaw, and unless you're intending on hovering your Fire Raptor a lot, then the Armoured Ceramite is rarely worth it saving more points. Dropping the Contemptor to a Cortus as well can save you even more.

These few changes can net you up to 135pts; enough for a pair of MM/Graviton equipped Land Speeders, or pair of Lascannon equipped Javelins.

Thanks for the input.

My read on the Lucid blade is that I can sacrifice 2 attacks to gain a 2++, and then attack with the Paragon Blade, and as they are both Specialist Weapons I still gain the +1A. I'm not gaining any benefit from the Lucid Blade in attack, as I am not using it to attack.

The full name for a "Dreadclaw" is an Anvillus Pattern Dreadclaw Drop Pod, so I think we both mean the same pod! I do see your point on the Palatines, and will give that some thought. As the Librarian isn't with them, I wasn't thinking he would use it on them, but that's a great idea.

I did consider a Cortus - it's probably better for what I want (popping vehicles) but I decided it just didn't feel as EC as a Contemptor.

The AC on the Fire Raptor was my last points. Easy to drop!

Thanks, again!

Hmmm, I've checked this, but the old 7th Ed rules backs up your reading, but the main rules state "If a model has more than one Melee weapon, they must choose which one to attack with in the Assault Phase". I think that's going to be a calling you're going to have to double check with the guy who's running the narrative, as it doesn't say either way with the rules.

You've written the Dreadclaw Pod; that's 115pts. The Dreadnought pod is 100pts.

Sounds like you're pretty happy with your list, and it's pretty legit. Love a good drop pod list, super interesting to play with and against! Best of luck mate!

Thanks - and appreciate the bounce of ideas. I will definitely contact the event organiser re. Lucid Blade.

Dreadnought is Lucius Pattern. But you are right - I could save 15 points there. Thanks!
