Hey everyone,

I am about to begin building and painting a Night Lords army and this is the list I have decided to work towards. I wanted to throw this up to see what opinions you guys have and any possible alternatives to consider.

I play narrative events so my armies are generally thematic and try to embody the Legions war doctrine whilst maintaining some semblance of competitiveness.

The biggest issue with the Terror Attack RoW is dealing with armour as I am limited to 1 Heavy support choice. I feel like I have covered my bases fairly well despite this limitation with a mix of long range and mobile AT weaponry. Dealing with a Flare Shielded Spartan is my biggest concern at this stage but a few test games against them should provide a solution.

Anyway, have a look at the list and leave some feedback if you feel the need.

Ave Dominus Nox!

Pretty solid mate! Most Terror Assault lists look pretty similar at 2500 points, and the anti-Tank is the key area that needs focus. Yours is a pretty well-rounded force, I think.

Maybe add a combat shield to the Assault Sergeant, and take digital lasers instead of a MC weapon on the Praetor? Also, all those chainglaives are cool, but power fists are generally better. Especially if you also fork out for melta bombs - 2 or 3 S8 AP2 attacks are better than a single melta bomb against most armour.

Thanks Caillum, as you said, most Terror Assualt lists look the same which is hard to avoid given the limitations of the RoW. You make a great point about the Chainglaives/melta bomb VS Powerfist.

Chainglaives are super fluffy but i have enough sprinkled throughout the army that taking some Powerfists wont hurt.

Im not sure if a combat shield is worth it on the sergeant. It only provides a 6++ and I don't like the odds on a save that low. It's hardly reliable.

What do you think about adding melta bombs to the entire Assault squad? It's an idea i have been contemplating. I would drop a Javelin to free up points and split the remaining Javelins into two separate units.

Au contraire mon ami! It might only be a 6++ against shooting, but in CC it is a 5++, and for only 3 points! A great option for a Sergeant (especially with regards to challenges).

Melta bombs on the Assault Squad is a good idea - they make them very threatening to a lot of targets. Dropping a Javelin will pay for them, so that works nicely.

Also, I’m a great proponent of dozer blades. Paying 5 points for piece of mind on the Venator is well-worth-it.

You are indeed correct. Thanks for pointing that out.

I will use the excess 20 points from the multi-meltas to equip the squad with melta bombs and add a dozer blade to the Venator. The Skyhunters are less effective now but they should still provide to be a mobile distraction and the heavy bolters can potentially glance AV10 rear armour.

My deepest apologies if this is Threadcromancy, but I was really looking to buy and build a Night Lords army very much like this, and I cannot find where Terror squads gain access to standard legion Drop Pods, the only thing I’m seeing in their Red Book entry is the ability to take Dreadclaw drop pods.
