Brother Dimetrius' Choir of Angels

Greetings!

With ETL coming up, I've decided to start my own thread for my Dark Angels collection.

Quick bio first, I've been doing GW stuff for the last 20 years or so. First & main love was WHFB (RIP), but ever since reading the early 2000's WD Index Astartes articles I've been following the 40k fluff closely. Main interest here is Heresy & 30k, but 40k is also close to my heart.

In the 41st millennium (we think), my interest has always been with Dark Angels. The First Legion, the ultimate grimdark Chapter, with a cool colour scheme and lots of variety to boot!

At the moment, I'm finishing up a demi-company (5th) of shall we now call them Old Marines. In the pipeline are also a 1st & 2nd Company Detachment, and the second half of the now partially reconstituted 5th Company comprised of Primaris Marines, who will keep their head down and take enemy fire for the team if they know what's good for them.

On the 30k side I have a scattering of Ultramarines based on the Calth box (mainly because it will be a while before we have proper Dark Angel Legion rules), but after buying the Prospero box I also modelled up some 30k DA. In 40k terms, can be used as unidentified renegade marines, probably from 7th Legion heritage or some such nonsense.

I'll be posting pictures as I go along, and share perhaps a battle report every six months or so when I get a game in.

And as a first taste, here is what a 30k Dark Angels Prospero box looks like :happy.:

The Terminators were a non-trivial conversion. Most I versions I have seen keep the back torso from the DW Knights, but as the Cataphractii back is so distinctive I kept it. Not easy to get it to fit to the front! It also means that I essentially keep a fully functional DW Terminator box as well.

The squads are essentially 2 Veteran Tactical Squads in 30k terms. They are also Calth / Prospero legal. And may be useful for 40k in ... certain ways.

Good news brothers!

In preparation of ETL I have been assembling some more reinforcements. I need Deathwing & Ravenwing additions to my Greenwing demi-company, and I got them done just in time.

Still thinking how I will structure my vow. Painting time is at a premium so best not be too ambitious

Can you please give us a rundown on how you went about with that?

I've kinda tried it once, but it didn't go very well. Yours look great, so the gaine dwisdom would be great

It's hard to give general pointers, each piece needed to be cut differently. From what I remember

- The torso pieces are misaligned both w.r.t. their horizontal & vertical planes.

- The vertical misalignment was the guiding one, meaning that both torso halves were cut from the top down.

- Almost all front torso pieces needed diagonal cuts on their "dome" top part in order to straighten things out.

- There is wiggle-room at arm height, any gaps here that cannot be solved by cutting can be hidden by the shoulderpieces

Something happened that rarely does, I played a game!

1,000 points of Greenwing facing off against some filthy Orks. Got defeated by playing to aggressively, lessons learnt.

Here some pics so you can see my semi-completed Greenwing, as well as the awesome terrain built by a friend I got the play on.
