Whats happening on Mordian?

I generally don't dabble in Heresy, however I thought I might try and interrogate some of y'all! ;)

In the guard codex there is a tiny little blub to do with Magnus setting his eyes on Mordian.

They don't explain, much however it sounds pretty grim for my Mordians... bad enough even some space elves try to send a message to them to get outta dodge. :ermm:

Does the TS codex elaborate any further on what Magnus plans for the Stygius Sector / Mordian System?

Or if his assaults on the hive world were successful?

This is all I could find:

The Stygius Kingdom

Magnus the Red leads a devastating assault

on the Stygius Sector. Cut off from the

Astronomican, the Imperial defenders

fall quickly to Cultist uprisings, daemonic

invasions and attacks from scores of

thrallbands. Only the stubbornness of the

Mordian Iron Guard and the arrival of

the Aeldari prevent the system from being

overrun, though even these events have

long been foreseen by Magnus, and are part

of his wider plan for the transformation

of Stygius.

Well that's a bit more positive than the piece I read which left their fate TBA....

Not that I ever doubted their resolve, I assume they purged the Xeno's afterwards too ;)

There's a blurb about it in the Core Rulebook as well. It goes into a little bit of detail about force dispositions and major battles. Quite a few loyalist chapters show up to help. Interestingly enough I think more Night Lords warbands are listed as showing up to the siege of Mordia than at the fall of Cadia. I hope this piece of lore gets flushed out some more as it sounds pretty interesting.

Would it be because of the attraction of a night world to fight on? Mordia does not rotate and is only populated on the dark side IIRC

Eye. Not eyes. >=)

In other news, from C:SM, the Iron Hands lead an Imperial crusade into the Stygius Sector. They initially reclaim a lot of territory but are slowly driven back a bit. So there's that.

  • 5 weeks later...

Since the Iron Guard look a little too much like parade ground US marines to be IP protected, I think they're about to get eaten. Sorry dude.

True on the looks, but their fluff/background always reminded me of every Prussian stereotype... ever.

My theory: Magnus the Red has been trying to get the Thousand Sons band back together, but the groupies are absent--the Spireguard are missing! Therefore, he has set out to raid the Mordian Iron Guard's vast supplies of shakoes to dress brand new fancy cultists in the garb of the old Prosperan Spireguard.
