Execution Force - Expansions Project

Ossified

Recommended Posts

I absolutely love Execution Force. It's very thematic but yet, as most have noted, limited. Rather than just accept it as the way of things I came up with home grown expansions. Obviously the game, setting, images and concepts are GW's IP/Copyright. I have no connection to them at all and I'm doing this for personal enjoyment only.

I'll be adding expansions to this post as I get them past an initial playtest. I have a few more small expansions on the back burner but my main goal is to create full "mods".  I'll host printable versions on dropbox/blog and post mock ups and links here if the Admins are okay with it? The first three up are;

Playing A Versus Game - 2 cards

This allows a player to take control of the Renegades within the framework of the existing game. Effectively turns a 1-4 player game into a 1-5 player.

Crimson Slaughter Expansion - 20 cards
There are some nice miniatures in Dark Vengeance and I thought it was a shame that they were not being hunted by assassins either. With that in mind I have expanded the pool of cards for renegade side of Execution Force to include additional events and profiles for some of the other forces at their disposal. I advise that people start by adding in the additional cultist and see how they go. The flamer rules in particular can cause problems for the assassins.

Chaos Champions - 11 cards
The force sent to stop Lord Drask was not imperial but was dispatched by Abaddon himself! This small set of cards allows you to play a red on red game where only Chaos can prevail, as only Chaos is present. Use the chosen warriors of the four gods to stop the ritual as the great despoiler has commanded.

Edit: removed the need to head to the image blog...

Playing A Versus Game

Having a solo/cooperative game is all well and good but what happens if there are 5 of you? Or what happens when one of you simply wants to beat the assassins into the ground.

I present the quick and dirty “Versus” rules allowing one player to take on the role of the Crimson Slaughter renegades. Simply click on the cards below save, print and apply the changes they outline to your games.

This is Version 1 of these cards. I’ve played a few games and the Renegades have a distinct advantage. I added the “Revive Stunned Renegades” to offset it and it seemed to do the trick.

With that in mind I have expanded the pool of cards for renegade side of Execution Force to include additional events and profiles for some of the other forces at their disposal.

To use these "cards" I'm going to print them out and insert them into card protectors along with a thin bit of card. I'll insert all of the cards that come with the game into the same type of protector and I'll be ready to rock and roll.

Download the printable version HERE and contains

  • 6 Additional Renegade profiles (pictures of the characters on them)
  • 12 Event cards associated with the new renegades (red title on black bar)
  • 2 rule cards (black title on red bar)

Expanded missions and enemies in Execution Force is all well and good but what if you want to play the game and NOT use the assassins? What if you want a small cadre of chaos champions dispatched by Abaddon himself to bring Lord Drask to heel.

This "expansion" brings in a new group of antagonists with their own powers and foibles. Jaelan Caphiss, degenerate scion of the Emperors Children. Skorth Moloch, a foul armoured blob of disease. Ralakas, a being of rage, cursed to carry a daemonblade since his first death at the Eternity Gate. Ahzar Thoph a silent servant of the great schemer.

The printable version of all the cards below can be found HERE

this is great!  I think you are the same person that started this on BGG and just wanted to properly thank you.    AEF is one of my favorites along with Space Hulk.

I'm trying to think of ways of expanding the concept using my necromunda tiles as well.

You are entirely welcome.

Yeah, I started this out on DD, same username. I'm looking into using other tiles with to expand the scope of missions, post-it triangles sorts out the patrol routes. The real sticking point I have is environmental counters and rooms tiles. I suppose I could use a scanner and P-shop them...

More detail on the three "mods" I have planned.

1. The Cleansing of His Beneficent Wrath
This is a Blue-on-Blue mission seeing the four Assassins being tasked with the destruction of an Inquisitor and her entire retinue. It will take place aboard Inquisitor Radha's vessel and I'm trying to put in a few options on how the players can accomplish the mission. sabotage the warp engines, disable the Gellar field or simply plough through the henchmen... I'm also trying to figure out the best way of introducing the inquisitors team. Some will be encountered in rooms and some, mostly the low level ones, will be patrolling.

2. Rebirth of a Phoenix
An Eldar Farseer has located the remains of a Phoenix lord and the Execution force is being sent to prevent the successful reoccupation of the armoured suit. This is still in the planning stage but I hope to crack the problem of the use of "automated" psychic powers beyond simple event cards. That will allow the Farseer and his warlocks to be much more of a threat. The opposition will be predominately guardians supported by Rangers, Wraithguard and a loose smattering of aspect warriors. I hope to include cards for all 6 phoenix lords which should add to the replay factor.

3. Assassinate Grimskrap Snaga,

Kill a Deathskull Bigmek, before he activates the newest element of his Great Gargant. This will be a multi level mission where each board in the game is a separate level within the structure of the gargant. Opponents will be skewed towards Meks together with the Ork and Grot crew.
