Some things are coming over from 40k (Outriders) and somethings are being built from scratch from the bits bin (Ventanus, Chosen, Master of Signal, etc. This is really my first foray into list building for 30k, and I am using the Logos Lectura ROW. Unknown Legionnaire Posted May 2, 2018 Share Posted May 2, 2018 Ditch Ventanus and the Command Squad (& their transport). Ditch the Master of Signal as well. Take a Chaplain for your compulsory HQ and have him join your Primarch and his Suzerain retinue. Attach an apothecary to said unit as well. Get a Damocles for your 2nd compulsory HQ. Insert small (& cheap) scoring unit into Damocles (like maybe 5 Vet Tacs or a Tac Support squad). Scrap the Proteus and get an assault vehicle for Guiliman and his gang. Pavement Artist Posted May 23, 2018 Share Posted May 23, 2018 Take a Chaplain for your compulsory HQ and have him join your Primarch and his Suzerain retinue. I cannot echo this enough. Re rolls to hit on the invictarii does so much to increase their damage output. This is personal preference, but i tend to favour heavy support squads in the heavy support slot for ultramarines. To me, they just to benefit from the legion traits a tad more. Ventanus just doesn't cut it compared to a praetor and considering you're bringing robby g, you don't need the hitting power. Also you should focus your Leviathan's loadout a bit more. Bombard + claw if going for Terminators, melta lance + drill if going for tanks or double storm cannon if going for infantry. Also a Drop pod is essential for him. Why are you taking all that useless equipment for Sicarans? Keep it simple. Lascannon sponsons and a dozer blade for the battle tank and just a dozer blade for your Venator. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Not a biggie, as you can just take standard Suzerains in Elites. Their Land Raider has a lot of extra stuff though - I’d limit it to dozer blade & armoured ceramite only. The Praetor and Command Squad are almost completely pointless in this list. Suzerains are a better combat unit than Command Squads, and a Rhino is not the transport you want for them, as it lacks Assault Vehicle. Roboute unlocks the Rite of War so you don’t really need the Praetor either (or the extra Apothecary). There’s much better ways to spend 435 points. I’d take a Damocles instead of a Master of Signal - it won’t help with Deep Strikes, but it impacts other Reserves and hurts the opponent. Alternatively, take a unit that the MoS can buff - a Heavy/Tactical Support Squad for instance. But really, the best thing you can do for an Ultramarines list is to drop Logos Lectora. It is the biggest sack of useless Rite of War in the game. Not taking it gives you more buffs and less restrictions! If you do that, we can really make this list shine! I'll have to get more arms for it eventually. I will be purchasing a new drop pod for him as soon as they are available. As for the sicarians- Because I have literally zero idea what I am doing. This is literally the second list that I have built, and I'm going simply off what is on paper. I'm painting up my army currently, so I haven't even played a game yet. Caillum Posted May 25, 2018 Share Posted May 25, 2018 Ultramarines (especially with Roboute) are unique in the sense that they do not really need to run a Rite of War. There are still plenty of Rites that work for them, but they’re purely optional. Sometimes the restrictions do not outweigh the benefits. The advice you’ve been given so far is good, but it might be sending you in differect directions! :) What models do you have so far - Outriders and a Leviathan? And what sort of list do you want to run? Drop Pod Assault? Mechanised? Combined arms? Theme is a big part of the Heresy, so coming up with a backstory is advisable.
