Nihilakh Deathmarks

Recommended Posts

So, I was looking at the leaks a while back and noticed something interesting, but didn't bring it up until now....

Given the nihilakh code: reroll hit rolls of one for units with this code, including when firing Overwatch, as long as they did not move in the preceding movement phase and they have not disembarked from a transport this turn.

and given Ethereal interception,

Is it possible that Nihilakh deathmarks that perform ethereal interception get to reroll ones to hit for their shots with that round of shooting?

They have moved in this movement phase, but are still in the movement phase when they shoot, if I'm interpreting this correctly. Nothing in the Ethereal Interception rule says during the enemy's shooting phase, just that it takes place after both units are set up.

Is this legit or am I being a WAAC-type rules lawyer?

Also mods if this is the wrong place i apologize.

That is a very interesting question. Assuming you went first, and they drop on your opponents (obviously) I believe it’s still the movement phase, as the reinforcement rule is “at the end of the movement phase” and you shoot after setting them up, before the psychic phase.(don’t have my book for exac wording) so I’m actually leaning towards yes, you get the reroll. Never thought of that.

My question is do we think that ethereal interception overrides the no DS outside of your deployment turn one rule. I think based on the specific wording and special requirements of the rule that we do. Id like to know what everyone else thinks about interpreting those two rules interactions.

On the topic, that is a pretty grey area. I'd get my opponent's opinion on it and be willing to play it either way from game to game but I'd hope for a FAQ to one day say they do get the re-rolls of 1.

As for Mr4Minutes question, I would say it does not override the beta rule since it effects units who aren't set up on the table T1 not specific instances of how units arrive thereafter.

Well, codex rules override the BRB; the beta rule is technically a BRB rule. Given the restriction on where the deathmarks may be placed, I think that overrides the restriction on placement from the beta rule.

Regardless, though, I can’t see many situations where it matters. You wouldn’t want to DS your deathmarks unsupported so close to the enemy’s DZ, so I certainly wouldn’t drop in turn one.

Also, Mr4Minutes, what was the reply? Might be useful to hear it.
