Task Force Hayden (Acerian 524th RCT)

Recommended Posts

So, after Guard codex came out I began toying with the idea of creating my own regiment, but due to financial reasons (and the fact that nothing really inspired me enough to start from scratch) the idea was dropped and forgotten about for a long while.

But something happened about two months ago. When I was browsing B&C I've noticed trooping the colour event, and in there I saw beautiful models (especially that company commander!) made by Lord Ranulf. And just like that, it inspired me!

So without further droning, I present to ye some fluff and photos of stuff that, I've done!

----Excerpt from "Traveling 'round the Emperor's galaxy: hidden jewels of the Imperium" by Anton Octavian----

(...) Another excellent example of this is Acerian Subsector. While many of the Imperial worlds and subsectors are run with an iron hand by Planetary Governors, Acerian worlds while indeed controlled by an Imperial official, are ruled by a Great Parlement which member are elected by subsectors citizens every 10 years. While some may be shocked by such display of frivolity or like some may even call callousness (for the Emperors enemies never sleep, and they always seek to exploit the weak-willed) - one must remember that citizenship in Acerian culture is not easy to come by. Citizenship is not gained during one's birth but by public service - be it in Arbites, or local law enforcement, PDF, Imperial Guard units, administratorum, ministorum, ecclesiarchy, emergency services, education or as a member of the local branch of Adeptus Mechanicus. Thusly weak-willed individuals are weeded out, and only those working directly for the betterment of Imperium and glory of His Majesty. In Acerian Subsector self-sacrifice, the common good and public service are everything. Self indulgence and incompetence - especially amongst ruling class is not tolerated and weeded out.  (...) Acer IV and Acer V are beautiful worlds with strong economy and industry. Acer IV with its wide savannahs and warm climate is a highly sought vacation destination system-wide, combined with its sprawling space docks its a sprawling trading hub of the subsector. Acer V, on the other hand, is a more cold place. With tundras, mountains and three vast oceans its a place where most of PDF and Guard forces are trained, but its also a planet of industry and maker of luxurious goods. (...) To more religious of my readers, Acerians may seem a difficult bunch. While fully devoted to the His Greatness Imperium and Imperial Creed, Acerians are not the most religious types. Despite this mutant and even abhumans are abhorred. With mutants hunted down, and executed in proper facilities, and any Abhumans (or anyone born with serious deficiency) euthanized at birth. (...)"

----Excerpt from "Regiments of Imperial Guard vol. 15" by Lt. Col. (Ret.) Matthew Anders----

(...) Acerian Mechanized Shock Troops are an interesting case. While most of Militarum regiments are formed and send to fight His Divine Majesty wars, almost never to return home, Acerian forces embark on so-called "tours of duty". Fully mechanized (thanks to good relations with local forge world located on Acer III), these troops return home after 15 years of combat or after suffering crippling casualties. Then returning veterans are presented with a choice they can either stay home as a member of PDF (in most cases as part of training or command structure) or they can enlist for another "tour of duty".  While those who stay ensure a significantly above average quality of training and troops (and often have a prominent political career), veterans who choose to go back to war, ensure that leadership in Militarum Regimentos from this subsector is of an excellent quality. Another notable fact about regiments from this region is higher than an avrage number of Super Heavy Regiments - thanks to the local forge world. (...)

Thank you!

Well I've got this bad boy in painting since yesterday :D

Maybe I don't know, I still have to paint remaining guards from the first squad and entire second squad with lieutenant Dunes on the side.

Also during the weekend I really would like to paint my DW vanguard vet (or two) from my second army. So there is a lot to do. :)

Fluff-tastic!! Love the background - nicely writtena s well as the content. I think the Imperium turns a blind eye as long as the outcome is effective.... Home brew guard regiments with great fluff are my favourite aspect of the guard. They look great too.

Colour scheme is very similar to the one I use, nice work so far.

Looks like you've got a long road ahead, you should sign up to the ETL if you haven't already.

Thank you!

When I saw your models I was like "this grey looks fantastic on guardsman armour... I'm totally stealing that" I hope you don't mind! :)

I totally skipped over the reference in your first post - use away, I'll use you as a colour-scheme guinea pig for vehicles and such. ;)

Good job on the Banesword. I'm curious why you named it "Princess of the Dawn". Do the Acerians have a historical or mythical figure with that title, who was renowned for courage in battle and/or devotion to the God-Emperor?

That's an awesome idea! In truth, every tank in my army is named after a metal song.

So for those curious:

Princess of The Dawn by Accept

Ballcrusher by W.A.S.P.

Bomber by Motorhead

China Lady by Accept

Iron Man by Black Sabbath.

Probably sister Baneblade will be named Princess of The Night (from the Saxxon song).

How about ‘mouth for way, strength beyond strength’ or the ever popular ‘f’ñ hostile’... all by pantera

‘Fade to black or creeping death’ Metallica??

I think I need more tanks! These all are too good. :D

Another strong contender is Knight of The Night or Steel Grave (from... Knights of The Night by Steel Grave). I just can't stop listening to that thing lately.
