More Last Chance to buy misery

Yeah I’d imagine they are upgrading them somehow, it’s be insane to stop selling them, surely they’d be some of their biggest sellers!

Probably just new boxes with half the stuff for the same price. It's that time of the year again soon.

Forge World We are moving some models out of the range at the moment to make room for future releases - much as we'd love to, we can't carry on making every model forever and still release new ones.

We knew that you guys would want to know, so you had a chance to complete any unfinished forces before they go, so rather than remove them without warning - we've put them on "Last Chance to Buy".

As with any model that we remove from the range, there's no guarantee it will come back or not, so If you do want to add these to your army or finish off a force, we'd suggest you pick them up now.

It's not quite the end of the world scenario it initially seems either; we're losing MK II pads (no plastics), Torsos (I suppose rarely used as by the time you've got the bolter across the marine's chest, you can barely see it, and as such is the lesser of the 3 upgrades), Cataphractii pads (a real shame, but with transfers and Terminators not being the must have that bog standard marines are for your force in general), and the Blackshields sheet (a real shame, but I can't see this being a massive seller).

The upgrade sets are going only because of the torsos. Majority of the helmets and all the mk III/IV pads are still safe.

Isn't it? While there may be still be some kits around, the question now becomes one of trust.

If you're part way through a project right now that uses these discontinued bits, you need to drop a pile of cash on a bulk purchase, otherwise you'll never be able to finish, and if you don't have the spare cash atm, sorry, you're :censored:  out of luck (or the Chinese recasters are quids in).

Are the helmets and remaining pads safe? This time last week I'm pretty sure nobody was worried about the torsos and MkII, yet here we are. Do people bulk buy entire projects/army expansions from FW at once (don't know, I lived in Nottingham for a good while, which fosters a more blasé attitude towards small, regular, FW purchases)? If not, is it worth starting a new one? Do you trust they'll keep selling the bits you need for long enough? That's the poison which could hasten FW, and the Heresy's, decline.

aren't they mostly phasing out bundles or 'upgrade sets'? e.g. all the Thousand Sons pads and helmets appear as regular items, while the set is being marked as LCtB. Then again same is true for the torsos, which I would assume are just not selling in lots like the shoulder pads.

edit: for everybody into MK II it seems like it is time to buy.

So it looks like torsos are saying goodbye, which is why all the bundles are in there. Majority of heads and pads are staying in production, and I imagine those are the bits that most people buy to differentiate their guys (torsos mostly being hidden behind bolters, I personally haven't found much cause for them).

Even so, it's surprising that things as recent as the SW ones are being shuffled off already.

But if only torsos are being cleared, why list the full upgrade kit? Wouldn’t you break those kits down (not difficult with FW packaging) and just sell off the torsos and put the rest back into inventory?

I said it in the N&R thread but I advise all Heresy fans to write (politely) to FW and GW and express your concerns and disapproval. If we don’t give feedback, there is zero chance of a solution down the track.

I've not ever bought a legion upgrade bundle, but my understanding is that you just get the separate bags; they aren't packed together. So all this is saying is "once the torsos sell out, you can't buy the bundle any more".

I want to push back on the torsos. If you're using them on every tactical marine, yeah, they're not going to be obvious. But if you're using them for sergeants or characters or stand-out models in interesting poses - the dudes you actually want to draw attention to - then they are perfectly visible. Same for assault marines or despoilers. Like the heads or other characterful details they look best sprinkled throughout the force and I always got the impression that was how the sculptors intended for them to be used.

@Sandlemad I know, and I totally agree it sucks. But I suppose in the grand scheme of things, there are more important items (like the mk III and IV pads, legion specific units etc) that take precedence. That, and from what I gather, FW have limited capacity at present so it's more a case of prioritising what's best with the staff they have alongside their future needs.

There is a lot that doesn’t make sense about this.

If they have limited storage and production (of course they do) then you would get rid of your least profitable items first. I doubt that any of the Heresy kits are less profitable than almost anything in the Hobbit range.

And then you have things like the 40K Death Guard kits, why not get rid of those now that you have good plastic options?

I understand that this is subjective and everyone has different opinions on what should be cut, and nobody has the sales figures except GW, but claiming it’s moving low selling items feels a bit weak in my opinion.

In any case, I’ve got some serious decisions to make about what, if anything, I need to get before it goes. Wife’s already given me the ok so that’s a big hurdle crossed. :)

All we are loosing is the mkII Shoulders, the chests and some heads. The heads are the biggest loss IMO. And those are easy enough to get elsewhere.

Yeah.

Except, you know. Dark Angels ONLY have the Mark II shoulders.

If we go by the posts to the Forge World page on facebook, people already are

That being said, FW is just giving the exact same response to every post, almost like it's an automated message.

Try searching for MKII, despite two entries (mkII tactical and mkII heavy) having that exact wording in their title. For some reason, FW's search engine doesn't catch everything
