More Last Chance to buy misery

I don't know, maybe a friendly social media message a day or two ahead saying something like "hey folks, we're planning another LCTB round this Friday so if you want any of the following items be ready at the usual time, and here are the items we're discontinuing" would be alright. I understand the frustrations.

With this one in particular though, we did actually get a "sneak preview," and I don't feel like anything that went LCTB is a huge surprise. There are things I hoped they wouldn't put up (Malinax transfers!), but still expected they might. At least they're keeping Mortis and Gryphonicus at 28mm. The standard Thallax remaining while the Irad-cleanser goes LCTB is also surprising, but I think a lot of people spoke up about using Ferrox Thallax via e-mail and FB, so they chose the least-well-selling special weapon instead.

That Van Saar rad cannon is a good shout! I might steal that idea. Looks a lot like the irad-cleanser. At the very least, the triple-finned tip is useful.

Otherwise, I know there's an irad-cleanser in the Vorax kit. And this is way less practical, but there's an irad-cleanser tip in the Knight Magaera/Styrix wrecker claws, if you go with a reaper chainsword load-out (arguably better anyway).

We'll survive. Mechanicum players tend to be crafty conversionists. There's already so much in that list missing model representation :tongue.:

  • 2 weeks later...

Interesting that these went up late compared to the new releases... I did a search at around midday UK time and there was nothing. Not mentioned in the email or shown on the front page either.

I'd thought that, given we'd lost the entire Mk II range, the Terminators Mk III and IV stuff might be safe, but I guess they've realised it doesn't make sense to keep it around when you're not selling arms/weapons for them any more.

The resin heavy support squads have been redundant since they got rid of all the old style shoulder-mount heavy weapons. Interestingly, weapon packs for the Terminators haven't gone LCTB yet, so that's something. At least we can still have combi-weapons.

In other news, a long, heavy sigh has escaped my lips this morning. I was kinda tentatively relieved when I didn't see any new LCTB stuff yesterday, but seeing this today is really not helping the worst of my suspicions.

If they'd led the LCTB process with this stuff, the kits that were already plastic, then that would have made a bit more sense and probably wouldn't have caused as much of a stir in the community. As it stands, 30k still seems to be taking the worst brunt of the cull, and as a guy who's basically solely a 30k player now, that sucks. I'd be very interested to see what percentage of the 30k range has gone over the last few months.

I've got no time for hearsay and guesswork about this any more, but I'll be emailing Forgeworld again today to ask what the hell they're doing, and shall expect the same canned response I always get.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if all of this was because someone decided that the Heresy range was taking potential sales away from 40k/GW Prime, and demanded Forgeworld pull their heads in by reducing their product, and this was their panicked response. But I've bought all the Primaris Space Marines I'm ever going to buy. I've played all the 8th edition games I'm ever likely to play. I only go in to GW now to buy paint, and even then I've mostly switched to Vallejo. If they stop the 30k train, I'm kinda done.

As others have said elsewhere, I'm finding it really difficult to get excited about stuff like Titanicus when this is hanging over our heads. I just can't see whatever the fabled new releases are being significant enough to make up for what's been removed in recent months, ESPECIALLY considering the amount of resource that's been pulled away from 30k to work on other Specialist Games product.

I'm hoping against hope that there's another plastic box coming to coincide with the next black book, but I'm kinda not really seeing that as much of a possibility, even if it's likely now the only way we'll see Mk II stuff again.

Not trying to Doomsday, but who would have thought six months ago that the only place you'd be able to get resin bolters would be the Breacher squad?

Like I said when that LCTB started they kick all stuff out which is in the GW boxes which somehow makes sense, but on the other hand makes us completely dependend on GW keeping those boxes.

Oh and... well... the far east. ;)

Im no longer worried since the GW Financials came out. I think the chance of more Heresy plastics coming out in the next year or two is almost guaranteed.

Resin is great for low sale items, but given the fact that GW just named Heresy as one of its three key brands (the other two being 40k and Sigmar) means that it sells pretty damn well.

But, resin isnt a really made for that while plastic is.

That, and given the fact they just opened up a FW location in the US, It's starting to seem to me that in a few years more and more Heresy kits are going to go plastic while FW handles the rules and upgrades like they do for Necromunda, BB and Titanicus.

Fully understandable why they’ve gone LCTB with plastic versions available. Just a shame really as I’m all for more options and I personally prefer the resin MK IV over the plastic MK IV. Gonna have to scour some bits sites as there are a few versions of the resin MK IV helmets I really like that don’t have similar looking ones on the plastic sprues.

Also, who wants resin bolters?!

People who wanted to mix different bolter types and armour marks, rather than just Phobos for MkIII and Tigrus for MkIV (or wanted Umbras/Seeker bolters)? Also, not having to drill the gun barrels with the FW product is nice.

Ouch, ouch, OUCH! This LCTB is killing my hobby budget. Made an order last evening that well qualified for free express shipping. At least now I have enough resin marks with good poses to "salt" my squads with some variety.

I'm pretty torn on this one. On one hand, I still have termis to build, and I have spent way too much these last months on the hobby. Plus I'm moving abroad in October so I won't be able to bring most of my hobby things with me. On the other hand, the cataphractii resin sculpts are much sharper than the plastic ones, and the resin tartaros have interesting poses.
