Kimbo Posted May 25, 2018 Share Posted May 25, 2018 Hi...I am currently building my 1k list consisting of 3x DoN start collecting boxes a prince and some hq,s. But...I am curious to what combos and tricks works for both Nurgle deamons as a solo force,and with DG allies as I expand to 1500pts and 2000pts Please be specific on what units i needed for the combo and/or weapon loadout etc.. Drones with DP? Mass plaugebearers? I am fairly new with the deamons, so bare with me! Anything that you share that will help be understand the army better is well appriciated! Wolf Lord Loki Posted May 26, 2018 Share Posted May 26, 2018 I played with a solo nurgle daemons force and quite honestly the shooting phase was a bit boring as we have very little range weapons. Possibly a few gun squads of plague marines to lay down covering fire. In order of personal preference (based on their overall value, not just synergy): Drones Mortarion Possessed Plagueburst Combining the nurgle daemon and DG +1 to wound powers (+VotLW if infantry) is also very powerful CSM obliterators or warp talons also synergise very well. Dallas Drake Posted May 26, 2018 Share Posted May 26, 2018 You will base your list around Daemons, that means starting with Epidemius in most cases. He buffs all Nurgle Daemons as your army deals damage. Daemon Princes are superb, a DG DP with superating plate, revoltingly resilient and blades of putrification is a blender that sports a 2+ 5++ 4+DR save that can put mortal wounds back on models in melee. I run this and it's decent. I recommend 2 DG DPs in any list, they do a lot of the heavy lifiting and are one of the best units we have. Plaguebearers are amazing, buff them with a Poxbringer for +1S and miasma of pestilence so in units of 30 they are -2 to be hit. Throw a screviner in there and they can be quite fast and are good in melee. Again, they love Epidemius' buffs, getting to S6 which with plague banner means they can deal with pretty much anything. I run 30 at the moment but plan on running 2x30 soon. Bloat drones and plagueburst crawlers are daemons and are great with plaguespitters. Once again they benefit from Epidemius and are superb at getting DPs where they need to be. PBCs are so tough that they can park on objectives or just soak up firepower. Drones have more utility but are a little less tough, that said I prefer them as they can fall back and shoot. Plaguespitters aren't great at dealing damage in themselves but they suit Nurgle's theme of getting up close and being a pain to deal with. Nurglings, nuff said. 3x3 is mandatory in most lists. I use mine to secure objectives cheaply or to tie up enemy guns turn 1. They also work well at denying deep strike. Great units. Oblits, don'e even need to be from an allied detachment, I take 2 units in a Nurgle spearhead with my PBCs and a DP. Oblits are great at getting kills fast and I use them to charge Epidemius' tally up quickly. You can take them in a CSM detachment if you want (Alpha Legion for -1 to hit is best) but I take 1 Daemons Battalion and then 1 DG Vanguard so don't mind taking just a Nurgle Spearhead with them in. Basically, any Nurglekin army is going to revolve around the synnergy between Daemons and their psychic powers. There are too many combos and ideas to list here, I know people are having good results with Plague Drones as they now have the Plaguebearer keyword. So many options... It works well with the 2 + 1 wound spells too I think Brother Marshlands is right, it also happens that I noticed a tourney player gradually shift to the fleshmower melee type recently. The situation is this tourney player uses a Nurgle Daemon horde and everyone's melee. So the drone joining in the melee might make more sense for him. I believe the specific reason he mentioned was that the flamer is anti-light infantry, where his Nurgle Daemon horde already have plenty of that. What he needed was more anti-power armour or even anti-tanks (like Dedicated Transports), thus he personally preferred the mowers. I kinda see his rationale. Maybe the flamers are the go-to choice for a pure DG force, whereas the melee version makes a little more sense for a mainly Daemon army. bozo69pd Posted June 3, 2018 Share Posted June 3, 2018 You can make a great list out of your specifications as others have said. 100% recommend picking up these models at some point: Nurgle Daemons Epidemius Pox Bringer Scrivener 3x msu nurglings 20 plague bearers play around wit proxy plague drones to see if you like em, they are a bit better now that they have the PB keyword FAQ Death Guard 3x daemon princes Typhus Pox Walkers Cultists 3x Foetid Bloat drones with pus spitters (they are the far superior weapon because they autohit) 1-3 plague burst crawlers with pus spitters (keeps em cheap, auto hits, just rush it right into their lines.)
