Need help with RG allied detachment

Hello everyone,

I was thinking about using a Dreadnought-focused RG detachment to fulfill my AT needs, and thanks to the -1 to hit, be at least a bit more resilient.

What do you think is the most point efficient combination to use?

My initial thought was this:

Techmarine

Lieutenant

5 scouts

5 scouts

5 scouts

Contemptor mortis with 4 lascannons

Contemptor mortis with 4 lascannons

Contemptor mortis with 4 lascannons

It's a bit expensive tho, around 850 pt.s., but the Contemptors also have a 5++, which paired with the -1 to hit makes them harder to kill, and hit on 2+.

Do you guys have any other suggestion?

Thanks a lot!

What mission objective do you see the Scouts performing? I wound suggest adding camo-cloaks and using them as ObSec units. Alternatively I’d go with Intercessors and Strike from the Shadows as distraction units.

I just need them for screening purposes. I could easily remove them and use BA scouts. My doubt was about which dreadnought is more performing. Or if devastators could be better

What is your main detachment?

If you have already have access to screens and sufficient CPs then a Raven Guard Vanguard is probably a better choice.  That would be 200 points cheaper.

Ok so:

Lieutenant

Dreddy

Dreddy

Dreddy

678 pt.s And will be using the stratagem to reroll ones for the dreadnoughts.

Do you think there are other types of AT, that are better? Regular mortis are cheaper but dont have 5++

lascannon devs are terrific but require a relic banner and reroll auras to max out on.

captain/LT is like 140ish

3 squads of devs with 3 lascannons and 1 missile launcher is around 600ish.. maybe under depending on how many ablatives you take.  Banner is 63 points.  That costs around 800 and will do a ton of damage to big stuff and give you some mileage from flak missiles.

This is still the most important question. There are reasons why both Dread or Dev might be "better" but it has to be in context with the rest or your army build if you want to get the most out of it.

Rest is 10 mam DC with lemartes and captain in aip and 3 scouts for screens.

Main group is DW intercessors/veterans in aip. I need some AT to start the game on the board and that can resist a turn of fire

Personally I’d go with Devs if you’re going uber-competitive. I’m buying a second RG Contemptor because .... cool. and they’re aren’t proper Primaris Devestators ... yet. The additional protection of potential cover saves overcomes the 5+ Inv for me. Just be sure to add a couple ablative wounds in each unit.
