Chaos Lord Tom Posted May 29, 2018 Share Posted May 29, 2018 Hello there, I'm thinking about building an industrial board with different levels. Those levels would be connected with ramps to allow vehicles and bikes to go up and down and I'd like to put some handrails or fences on the edge of each levels (or part of them a least). These handrails / fences should not provide cover so they should be as light as possible. Do you have any idea on how to get / model such handrails / fences ? I'm not opposed to buying. Our scale is a bit large, but closer to 28mm. @Slan Drakkos, great site. I can't think how I missed it. Now I'm off to buy some things I didn't know I needed. Elzender Posted May 30, 2018 Share Posted May 30, 2018 For the handrails, I've made a test with a brochette stick as the handrail, and cut paperclips as the supporting rails, quite minimal but might do the trick, and really cheap. In the past I've successfully used HO scale multistorey industrial buildings as terrain. They work fine because the eye suspends disbelief in the same way it does with Land Raiders that reason tells you wouldn't hold ten space marines. But when it's an item closer to man size it just won't work. I think, as Elzender suggests, scratch building might work better. His idea should work well and it's nearly free. If you're not averse to spending a little, you might consider using some of the specialty extruded products from Evergreen or Plastruct. They have rod, I-beam, angle, and many other shapes in a bunch of sizes. The advantage to using them is uniformity. You won't get the little wobbles that happen when you're straightening a paper clip, nor the out of scale wood grain from the sticks. I finally ordered theses ones : https://www.multiver...s-x28-p-78.html They're made of lasercut MDF, are 7.2 cm long and 2 cm high. Pretty satisfied with them.
