JadedMask Posted May 31, 2018 Share Posted May 31, 2018 The Avernus Crusade, a crusade assembled in direct response to the growing necron threat beyond the ghoul stars. With Sautekh forces growing in number, lead under a new enigmatic lord, Nokhtis, the Avernus Crusade set out to light ablaze the newly awakened tomb worlds, and stifle the progress of the new lord of the dead. Since its inception, the Crusade has seen many changes and suffered many hardships, but nothing rocked the core of the Crusade like the opening of the Cicatrix Maledictum. After the Blaze Soon after the Cicatrix Maledictum had opened, the chapter was immediately given orders to reroute and assist in the defense of Imperial worlds under attack. The chapter was used as the front guard for these attacks, pushing through the front lines of newly daemonic holdings, to make way for Imperium expansion. Honored Leaders Marshal Alrik Schtauffen, The Champion Marshal, Knight of the Burning Worlds. Leader of the Avernus Crusade, a hardy man that prides himself on his sturdiness, his reputation precedes him. The brethren of the Crusade revere the Marshal’s power, and find themselves striving to new heights in his presence, trying to win his favor. He is quiet, solitary, contemplative, and level-headed. His Fighting Style consists of charging the front line with his first ranks, jumping into the fray and outlasting the blows of his enemies. He will never back down from a challenge, often to his own detriment. Alrik’s hatred of the daemonic foe is well documented, a Daemon Prince by the Name of “Kragdos” who he often refers to as “Merek” seems to be the main bearer of his ire. The Beast had slain his master before him, Marshal Graccus, now interred into a Dreadnought Carapace. “A man is measured by three things, his virtue, his service, and the blood he will spend for what he believes in.” Graccus the Ancient, Honoured Warden, "Marshal Graccus" Graccus the Ancient- The former Marshal of the Avernus Crusade, now interred into the carapace of a Leviathan Dreadnought, a device that has often been said to cause madness in the user. In the past, known as a somber and quiet leader, Graccus had little time for revelry, music, merriment, some say it is the carapace, some say it is his age, but this enjoyment of life seems to border on suspicion. Graccus is a figure of laughter and boisterous fury, bringing death to the enemies of the emperor with a grin. His swordsmanship unparalleled, a feat that Alrik and the Sepulchral Knights continue to try to replicate. Graccus’ fury with his massive dreadnought blade is well known by his enemies, all the more horrifying when delivered by the Singing and Laughing GrandFather of the Avernus Crusade. “Haha! Come on huseyourname! I could crush ten skulls in the time it takes you to clash blades with me!” Reclusiarch Valdemus, The Holy Word, Cleric of the Last Rites, Guardian of the Sepulchre Head Chaplain of the Avernus Crusade, a wisened man with a career that predates even Alrik’s, a confidant of Alrik’s, often acting as an advisor. In the early days of the crusade, upon approval of Marshal Graccus, Valdemus created a Division of devout Sword Brethren known as the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, or the Sepulchral Guard for short. These blade wielding terminators would act as bodyguards, escorting the crusade’s finest into battle. Valdemus is a bit of a Recluse, his days spent in silent study and prayer, alone, in the sepulcher amongst the honored dead and preserved relics. “I may be an old man, fool, but you should tread lightly among your betters…Timent irae Dei electus! (Fear the Wrath of God’s Chosen!)” Chaplain Nicolas Richter, Purifier of Galren IV, Holder of the Tome of Litanies Chaplain Nicolas Richter- Senior Chaplain under the advisement of Valdemus, Nicolas has become quite a promising candidate for the position of Reclusiarch, his fiery anger inspiring the men around him. Hot-Headed and impetuous, the hatred that seethes within Richter burns brighter than many of his brothers, often flying into a frothing rage upon reaching combat. Stories say Nicolas witnessed a horrific ritual at the hands of a Slaneeshi cult, and has never been the same since, flying into a rage at the slightest wiff of corruption. “YOU DIE HERE BEAST URGHAAAAAAAGH!” Castellan Jaecar Sureeye, The Errant Castellan, Bionic Commando Youngest of the crusade’s castellans, and the most accurate marksman in the entirety of Alrik’s forces. Eager to prove himself, Jaecar is always the first to the fray, leading amongst his men, using his bionic eye to scout out the weaknesses of his enemies, and report them to his brothers. I wouldn't have thought to do that. Reclusiarch Valdemus I love seeing the word "Reclusiarch". My crusade is led by a Reclusiarch as well. What model did you construct him from? Chaplain Nicolas Richter This model is still my all time favorite Chaplain model that GW sculpted. I put a jet pack on mine, but he's such a epic look and pose.
