I've been thinking about adding kitbashed Interrogator chaplain to my deathwatch force, but as I have already two Dark Angels in my watch company I thought about making him one from a successor chapter. The thing is... I have no idea if successor chapter have IC to their disposal (as far as I know the successor chapters doesn't have Deathwing and Ravenwing so anything is possible, or not).Could you help the brother out? :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Greenz Posted June 2, 2018 Share Posted June 2, 2018 All of the established successor chapters of the DA have an Inner Circle of one form or another, though it’s not necessarily called an Inner Circle. Therefor all DA successor chapter do have Interrogator Chaplains, for the purpose of interrogating Fallen, as well as regular chaplains who aren’t members of the Inner Circle Also, all established successor chapters have an all terminator 1st co, and all bike/ speeder/ aircraft 2nd co, though the DA are the only ones to call them Deathwing and Ravenwing. Part of the indoctrination is a psychic screening and the Dark Angels would not be pleased with specific information coming into the hands of the inquisition... Bryan Blaire Posted June 9, 2018 Share Posted June 9, 2018 Wouldn't it be reasonable to assume the DA Librarians likely also have psychic wards or methods of locking away thoughts they don't want others reading in their minds during a probe though? It's unclear if other Inner Circle/Deathwing members actively possess anything like that though, which is likely why they generally don't mingle with the Librarians (and other senior officers) of non-Unforgiven - it could lead to them inadvertently revealing something they didn't want to if their minds were to be read. Also, in Deathwatch: The Last Guardian, Balthasar goes back to the Deathwing after finishing his stint in Deathwatch, implying that he was already Deathwing prior to joining Deathwatch. Just because all Librarians are inducted into the Inner Circle doesn't mean that the DA/Successors couldn't induct a Librarian formally, but send them off to the Deathwatch before sensitive information is revealed to the newly inducted Librarian. See? No special psychic wards required (not that the Inquisition, of all organizations, won't have among the most brutally powerful of psykers available to break down any such wards to begin with, but one can not find what is not yet there). Even then, considering that members of the Inquisition have been involved with the DA numerous times, they've got to have some method of "keeping secrets" from other psykers. rendingon1+ Posted June 10, 2018 Share Posted June 10, 2018 I don't believe deathwatch screening/probing is that deep. Besides this psychic test is exactly what? I bet It's not about digging for chapter secrets or whatever but to find out if individual is tainted, stable etc. Dark Angels are not special here, almost every chapter has some skeletons in the closet (from atrocities to tech heresy). Deathwatch also accepts brothers from chapters of questionable purity and even renegades as well, you don't have to be a Grey Knight purifier to be in the business. Besides let's not forget DA favoured psychic discipline-interromancy. DA librarians are basically super expert telepaths amongst astartes, they know how mind works etc. and if anything they're more than able to protect what's inside their head. I mean... if even these guys are allowed to keep their secrets hidden, why shouldn't be a member of one of the most honored chapters in the imerium be allowed to have some of their own?
