My almost finished Hellhound.

Just need to decide whether I'm going to colour in and write on that scroll or not.

Sentinel and Leman Russ Executioner camo base coated:

The sentinel didn't come out as sharp as the others because it's so small and knobbly that the stencils didn't stick to it very well, I may try cleaning it up or might just leave it as it is.

Couldn't decide whether to paint the barrel of the Executioner Plasma Gun in camo or not so I just went for it. May try adding some burn to it and seeing how it looks. Otherwise I'll give up and get out the leadbelcher!

Looks damned good. Every single time I see that camo on the russ I'm impressed, it's too damned good and making the rest of us look bad!

Reasons to use the Steel Crusaders ('Codex: Space Marines' supplement): Because you think giving Sternguard Veterans a heavy bolter wtih special issue HEAVY BOLTER ammunition is ALMOST as much fun as shoehorning an Earthshaker cannon into a Land Raider.

Reasons to use the Iron-hearted Angels ('Codex: Blood Angels' supplement): Because you think the Librarian Dreadnought needs Furious Charge AND It Will Not Die to beat down a Chaos-worshiping punk and his Defiler, while a Stormraven needs a Vanquisher cannon to beat down this punk's Heldrake.

That looks promising. Your work on the vehicles' camouflage patterns is commendable.

It’s literally just spraying it 4 times adding layers of stencils/tape between each one and then shading the recesses and finally dry brushing it all. A bit time consuming but I think it’s worth it to make the guard vehicles a bit more exciting to look at.

Don't undersell it - that's four runs of applying stencils and working, that you've been clever about it to reduce the work required is also good - something looking nice doesn't have to mean hours upon hours of skilled work after all :P Just more excuse to paint lots more tanks... right? ;)

Yeah my first Punisher I tried 5 or 6 layers which was way too much and it actually turned out too dark.

These are nice and bright, and actually less work to do.

Can anyone give me any advice on painting plasma? In particular the Executioner Plasma Cannon?

I'm going for a purple plasma theme. based it with Naggaroth Night, and layered on Xereus Purple on the ridges. Then drybrushed Screamer Pink onto it, then drybrushed a mix of Screamer Pink and White Scar to get it bright.

I tried it on a space Executioner Cannon and i think it looks good from a distance, but up close you can see it looks like the recesses are full of drybrushed paint, maybe I used too much?

It depends on how you want the plasma coils to look. I blend mine dark to light blue and that works quite nicely. If you've done some dry brushing then a wash could help level it out a bit so it's not quite so obvious? A purple wash could do that here?

I usually do a mid - heavy white drybrush then hit with a wash and do a ligjt feathering afterwards
Helps tone it down a bit
Also make sure your brush doesnt have too much paint on it when dry brushing otherwise that could be causing the large caked bits

Do you do a wash just in the recesses or all over?

All over :)

Hard to tell here but this is it on some Hellblasters:

Spoiler

I don't have a picture of finished example on my Plasmacutioner, I'll see if I can get a photo of it tonight.
