Recommended Posts

I’m currently working on a little DE project based on the poisoned tongue Kabal. The project is three of the old DE starter sets so the ones with the raider rather than the Talos.

Got these painted so far

These aren’t full squads, there’s currently 19 of 30 painted. I have made a start on the jet bikes too which i’ll Post up shortly.

Cheers for looking.

Love the leather technique on the Haemy! Would you share your steps?

Thank you.

The process, very roughly:

1: I based each section in flesh colours, light and dark.

2: a couple glazes of chestnut ink, very thin, just to slightly tint the flesh tone and give the appearance of fey leather.

3: use brown glaze to stain the edges of each section.

4: using various flesh shades stipple each section. Build the tones gradually.

5. Add scratches as appropriate.

It’s tough to detail it completely, I used the Scale 75 flesh paint sets for the tones and chestnut ink. There’s also some burnt umber in there. Use different tones to maintain that patchwork look. Hope that helps a little.

I have two more Archons to paint for this army and I’ll be painting them on stream using the technique.

If you get chance keep an eye out for it and pop in.

Amazing, I love your work.

Can you elaborate? I'm notoriously poor at painting fine lines.

Again, awesome stuff.

Thanks appreciate that.

For scratches well I’m afraid there aren’t really any shortcuts, just practice.

I tend to use the magnifying glass on the model.

Thin paint, this often means you go along it twice to get it to stand out.

The highlight, I tend to use a combination of lines and dots rather than simply tracing the underside of the original line. Gives the finished look a more ragged feel.

And finally, a really good tip on your brush. A good brush is essential. And don’t overload the brush with paint, just the tip.

I cant offer much more than that I’m afraid.
