Primaris + scouts

Well your biggest concern will be anti-tank and with just those units it's not like you have tons of options to chose from anyway.

Scouts, Inceptors of both variants, lascannon repulsors (two of them) and hellblaster and you'll be good to go.

Primaris are smurf spawn and shall never sully my noble blood angels. You do what is best for your army

Well to be precise on a genetical level they're more Blood Angel than the current non-Primaris Marines considering Cawl used the original non-degraded geneseed. Also it's made by Cawl not by the Ultramarines. That's really offtopic now tho. :P

I got beat down repeatedly by a club mate with girlyman and a pile of blue primaris just after the sm dex dropped. I am now alergic. I really like the models other than aggressors. Rules wise i really object to the creeping power ramping up and putting great old models out to pasture. Terminators are a sad joke. Assault marines. . . Why? 100% special weapon units like hellblasters push static bubble play. Fluff wise they make no sense either. All in all not for me.

Forget the Scouts

Primaris Librarian (unleash rage power)

Primaris Chaplain

Primaris Lieutenant

Primaris Captain

Primaris Ancient with relic banner

Then as many 8 man units of auto bolt rifle intercessors with power swords on the sergeants as possible, arranged into 2 battalions

Pretty sure I'm joking.

Its hard to make a Primaris army that benefits from Blood Angels, 6 units of 5 scouts, 4 hqs and as many helblasters as possible would be better as Ultramarines or DA. I assume Red Thirst makes Reivers 'okay'. Repulsors are too expensive to make a mechanised Primaris melee rush army decent.

Primaris were garbage until their points dropped in Chapter approved and Terminators and Assault marines being bad has nothing to with Primaris (its Death Company and Vanguard veterans that make assault marines worthless and Terminators are as bad as they've always been for the same reason).

You'd make a great high lord of Terra :P

Eh I won't argue about Primaris fluff. It makes more sense than many other "old" (not that old actually) things in the fluff. Just because there was no sign about it in the fluff before it doesn't mean it's less legit. That's how new things work unless you prefer retcons. ^^

The power creep ... well to me Primaris got the stats that Marines should always have had (at least for the past few editions). They feel like proper Marines who can actually take a bit of a beating etc. Terminators were always bad and Assault Marines just have too much competition in the Codex but that's a Codex design flaw and has nothing to do with Primaris. Keep in mind that Primaris are still no tournament winning army so the power creep barely exists and is more like a power adjustment focussed on the new units.

About the static bubble play ... that's not really true. All of the units are significantly better when in Rapid Fire range (15") or have only 18" (Inceptors and Aggressors) to begin with. Vehicles excluded obviously (tho the one vehicle is a transport even so promotes getting close as well).

Reiver are kinda bad, at least the melee variant, however I bet all my money that GW is not done releasing Primaris units yet and that we'll be seeing a proper melee unit eventually. If not for vanilla Marines then at least for Blood Angels and Space Wolves. ;)

All true. You are a wiser and level headed Blood Angel than I. I fully agree that the primaris stat line and model size are better suited to the idea of the space marine. I would have just introduced a true scale model line and new rules rather than split the space marines into two categories. Not that i know what is best. But my emotional responses are why i like wargaming so much and so i will pontificate and rail against the heresy of the primaris betrayal of the Emperor and fight crawl and girlyman at every turn. For Sanguinious and the true Emperor!

I guess that's different for everyone but I for one don't allow myself non-primaris vehicles in my primaris army.

The only non-primaris models I have are some HQs but that's 20% rules related (lack of loadout options for primaris HQs is a real issue), 30% model related (the Sanguinary Priest and JP Chaplain just look too good and I really want a Librarian Dreadnought) and 50% fluff related (some of the least remaining Knights of Blood who missed the Devastation of Baal due serving in the Deathwatch at that time).

Cool then you could include a kill shot for anti tank. (3 pred)

Scouts loadout are not super important they are there to lock building and get some coverage.

Intercessor screen tanks and are objectives holders.

Your walking mid range gunline could consist of aggressors and hellblaster with the relic banner bearer.

The wildcard of the army could be inceptors in a big squad. Their limitations however with primaris is that you don’t have JP captains, so either you drop within captain/relic banner range once you have lost the aggressors or you go bolter.

Intercessors, Scouts and Inceptors all work very nicely for Blood Angels.

Hellblasters are great but tend to be a fire magnet so you really need to run them with a Captain (for rerolling when overcharging), Ancient with Standard of Sacrifice (5+ FNP and the ability to make a parting shot on a 4+) as well as a Sanguinary Novitiate for patching up wounded models and resurrecting casualties.

That gives you a decent core but lacks real anti-tank and melee punch. If you are willing to add a few non Primaris units then Captain Smash and some Sanguinary Guard would help. Stormravens with lascannons make a nice anti-tank platform too.
