I like the general premise of this list, and I'm a big fan of the fact you're filling all your troops slots with assault marines; they definitely play to the strengths of the Maru Skara (and the Emperor's Children in general).

My main concern would be the 540 points veterans in an anvillus. They'll certainly be capable of dishing out a lot of damage, but are still a 10-man squad of marines with 3+ saves at the end of the day. Not to mention, your opponent's biggest threat could quite easily be a transport housing terminators or similar (suzerains etc...), at which point the power swords are a waste of points. In practice, you might find it works well, but I fear it could also crumble against certain opponents.

Regarding the rest of the army, dual combat contemptors sounds good, the apothecaries are a must, and the Primaris is always a decent choice. Someone, else with more experience, might have better input, but where is the champion going?

I agree the Veterans are an issue... the 100pts of power weapons is entirely a waste of points!

However, I took the same squad in a different list at the LGT and they were my MVP by a long way (not saying much - my army was terrible!) Game 1 they reduced The Tormentor to 1HP, Game 2 they destroyed a Whirlwind t1 and followed up with a rhino t2 before they got Phosphexed to death! Game 3 they took out a Knight Seneschal as the 1st thing that happened in the whole game...

My reasoning for including them is that I think Maru Skara is all about applying constant pressure to your opponent and not giving him a second's respite. This squad should give him a real headache in his own lines while 30+ assault troops close on him at increased speed.

Legion Champion will be in one assault squad, Praetor in the other.

My bad, I saw boarding shield and suddenly the words jump pack became invisible!

Definitely agree about the constant pressure though. I guess you could ditch the swords for axes, even if you lose your initiative bonus. I would be tempted to swap the veterans out for terminators.

Actually they are armed with a mix of swords and axes (and one maul!) but I can't remember how many of each!

I agree about the vets...

Why not use a 5 man termie squad instead? They can take combi melta and are going to be more resilient whilst also offering the option for chainfists and the anvilus becomes dedicated.

You’ll also save about 200 points for another later vindi, javs etc...

I've tried the 5-man terminator squad. Has nothing like the potency for the alpha strike. Sure you can keep it in the pod until t2 then it's better than the vets, but the vets can trash a superheavy before it even gets to fire.

I have a similar idea for a Maru Skara list. Mine is hypothetical right now, so maybe let me bounce some ideas off of you and you see if something strikes a chord.

I had a kitted out Praetor for my main assault squad. Then I saw that Eidolon with a jump pack cost the same.

Are the Auto canons on the Lightning Strike Fighter really worth it? I though of him as a Spartan and Land Raider opener and Auto Canons don't do anything for that.

If you give the Vindicator Machine Spirits, you can drive the full 12" and still fire the demolisher canon. Depends on if you want focused anti tank fire power or a possible squad deleter.

Regular Landspeeders can get grav guns as an additional weapon. 4 of those with HB and grav guns outflanking can glance a lot of vehicles to death.

I have since amended this list, but my thoughts remain consistent, so I can give you my reasonings.

Eidolon  -  I run Loyalist (no idea why... but I do!) so not an option for me.

Autocannons on Lightning - After the initial can-opening, I like to use my Lightning as air cover against other fliers, or for taking out lighter tanks (rear/ side armour)

Vindicator - Laser Destroyer Array, so I don't want it moving at all tbh!

Land Speeders - I have 5, they just aren't in this list!

This is a great list man, personally I really like the melta intensity of those veterans but agree that you won't be needing the power swords. The Assault marines fulfil that role.

With the spare points you might be able to add another vindicator, I think they can be fielded in squadrons these days.

I'd be a little concerned if you came up against a flyer saturated list, particularly fire raptors, one lightning wouldn't withstand. In saying this, you might just be numerous enough on the ground to swarm the objectives by turn 5-6.
