[Review] Badger High Roller Airbrush Trigger

Recommended Posts

The Badger High Roller Trigger (part # 50-019HR) is a trigger upgrade for any Badger or Thayer & Chandler airbrush. It looks like any other airbrush trigger, except that it's longer in the shaft... so no fancy pics.

I purchased this inexpensive upgrade in hopes that it might make airbrushing easier for my arthritic hands.

Description:

- The trigger shaft is 24mm long, or approximately 9mm longer than the standard trigger on my Patriot.

- The top of the trigger is more domed than my standard flat-top-with-dimple.

Action:

- Because of the longer trigger length, the top of the trigger has farther to travel. (Think the bigger the circle, the farther you have trace to go around.

- Measuring from the pivot point (center of the circle) to the top of the trigger, the High Roller describes an arc of 45° (from 105° to 60°). Compare this with an arc of 25° (from 105° to 80°) for my standard trigger.

- This longer arc of travel (nearly twice as much) over the range of paint volume control allows much finer control.

Installation:

- No brainer! Take your old trigger out as normal when you clean your airbrush. Stick the new trigger in when you reassemble.

Summary:

I found this trigger easier and less tiring to use for my gnarled arthritic hands. I was able to airbrush nearly four times as long as normal without pain. The increased control allowed me to make a clean prime and base coat without heavy areas.... something I haven't been able to do for several years. I was even able to make some nice crisp lines.

So, if you're an old fart like me it might make airbrushing easier. If you're looking for better control this might help you out.
