I wonder how this List with so many big blobs of Guardsmen deals with Moral:sweat:

I also don't think Conscripts are Back, they might have worked in this List but normal Guardsman would have done the same Thing better. useing the Stratagem to blob them up and you have a 20 man Squad Turn 1

I have to agree. The only thing the conscripts would do better is screen T1 against an army with assault units that fly (Drukhari, Harlequins, Custodes Bikes etc). But he only brought 3 tanks, 2 of which probably wouldn't need much screening due to being single artillery pieces.

I still run a band of Conscripts regularly, they synergize really well with Bullgryns linebacking for them.

 

I ran them at a recent ITC, army never gave up a kill point till turn 2-3.

How did he get 2++ on the bullgryns?

The Brute shild give a +2 to saves

So the 5++ from the Vexilla becomes a 3++ combine this with the stratagem "take cover" which gives you a +1 to saves you get the 2++ against shooting for the bullgyns

He gets 2++ from shenanigans but its not uncommon for people to do it with a combo of psychic powers, cover stratagem, custodes and / or celestine.

 

Reece is also a fan of using the stratagems that auto pass or limit morale rolls like the D3 one.

 

He mentioned he did occasionally give his conscripts a 5++ through similar combos that gave his bullgryns a 2++

Well, the morale should a non-issue. We have access to a lot of Command Points and our Psykers can make any given unit pass its checks automatically, which will keep them from running away for a turn or two. You could also stick your Conscripts into a Valhallan detachment and the Pietrov's AK47, which is the pre-nerf Commissar effect. You'd give up the Catachan bonuses, but you can take multiple Conscript blobs and play defensively.

I think another angle is a large blob of 25+ conscripts can act as mental bait for your opponent, they might think about all the "value" they can get by killing half the unit with proper shooting and having the rest die to morale. On top of having several tricks to deal with morale, if the enemy does dedicate any significant turn one fire towards the conscripts turn one, GREAT! 

 

I am a happy commander when my opponent dedicates firepower towards my screens. They can kill all the Scout Sentinels and conscripts and infantry squads they want as long as they don't touch my Russes and artillery.
