Deathwatch Vetern Query

I'm having a little brain melt on this on the drive to work, it was early so this could be total noob question.

So Deathwatch Vets Squad can contain models with differing toughness. I'm paraphrasing here but, the units toughness is based on which toughness is more prevalent or if toughness are equal the Deathwatch player chooses the unit toughness. Fine that clear and makes sense.

But what about the saving throw?

So for example, a Veteran unit contains mostly T5 3+, but  with some T4 3++ models floating around.

The wound roll was based on the T5 models as per the rule, fine up to here.

You then make the saving throw. And this is were my head was getting confused.

As the wounding roll was based the T5 models do you have to take the saving roll on the T5 models?

Or as you can decided who takes the saving throws in your unit can you drop the saves onto the T4 3++ models?

This is were I'm getting lost.

Help Appreciated

Baz

For resolving attacks, you allocate the wound before rolling the saving throw. So you would get to choose which models are making the saving throws and taking any subsequent damage. If the models had different save values (such as having terminators that would use their invuln or models with a storm shield), you would need to make the saves one at a time, so you know when the wounds have killed the models with the 3++ and you need to start making 3+ saves.

Thanks for the help, my brain was stuck in feedback loop. The logical part of my brain was telling me as you used T5 to resolve attacks, you must allocate wounds to a T5 model. Which isn't RAW from the rule book.

So, resolve attacks using T5 for the unit, allocated wounds as normal to whatever models I wish. Make appropriate saving throws. Done

As a note, however, that the rules for multiwound models would still apply.  So, if you allocate a save to the terminator and he fails, all remaining saves must be taken by the terminator until he dies, at which point you can go back to assigning saves as you like.
