I started my foray into the flashlight wielders at the end of 5th and I keep selling and trading the darn things and still the grow back to ridiculous levels. You’re especially special in that you’ve gone with the Vostroyan metal love (the sniper with his foot up on the rock is one of the all time great sculpts in 40k). They are looking a little depressed and grey though, I think a lil time under the LED and CFL lamps with the proper application of thinned paints should help that issue out significantly Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you are being overpowered by superior numbers, funnel them into a killing zone and kill the ones you can see... in other words, put them all away,out of sight, apart from a small unit that you are painting. My Vostroyan 577th and The Knights of House Blackwood We used the Open War Cards to Generate a mission Deployment Looked like this The Leman Russ Squadron and tank commander turned mortarion into a smoking crater on the first turn and I don't think my opponent's morale survived it. While he would eventually kill one of the three knights via mortal wounds from typhus and one of his psykers adding up over the 3 turns he definitely ended up getting crushed under the weight of the knights assault prowess and the fact that anything that crossed the center line was lit up by the guard elements. I killed 94 power level of his armor x2 cause I killed his warlord and he killed 20 power level of my army.The Vostroyan Range buff helped quite a bit here, especially on the tanks. About 4 years ago I was helping a friend with building a list from a few small squads he had. 3 hours of research and list building and I realised I really liked the way the list looked, so I changed a few things, swapped out his Cadians with some metal Vostroyan Firstborn from GW. 3 days later I was ordering the models from GW with a list that had been play tested with great rigor, it was perfect for my meta. 2 weeks later my goodies arrived (I lived in rural Australia so delivery was slow) and I unpacked everything and it was beautiful in its metal glory so I had to Squad them up just so I could see them all...........but there was a problem.....3 lasgun Firstborn were missing. I horrified called GW who in the manner of their quality customer service said no worries, we will replace them, in fact have a full squad for your troubles. Great right. Right, nope because now I had 7 extra Vostroyan Firstborn.......you know how this goes. Anyway from 56 Firstborn grew my current collection 135ish Firstborn Infantry and about 20ish tanks (including 12 Russes and 2 super heavy tanks) Have fun Firstborn. I know I do. Lord Lee. I also just scored a bunch of the officer models, the one with the power fist, two with chainswords and bolt pistols, and one with a power sword and plasma pistol. Im also working on air support. My advice is to comb the Internet for Vostroyan minis now unless you want to pay through the nose for heavy weapon teams later. No kidding, the prices on some of these metal models that are out of print are nuts. Gonna shoot to have these artillery tanks assembled by next week and I'm out of primer so I cant paint the baneblade. I'll be stepping up to 3000 points next game ... still only going to run 3 knights and my guard force will be a bit thicker ... funny how this army was supposed to support the other one. Having done 3 and used Elmo's magnetization tutorial on 2 of them pretty easy! :D Well except for the tracks and the floating cog that part sucks!
