Stalker or Storm?

3rd troop choice... another stormbolter squad or keep a stalker bolter unit. Factors I want to throw in. One troop is a kill team power lances/ stormbolter deepstrike with 2 termies. VV, black shield and frag. The other troop choice is black shield with lightning claws, sergeant with blade and boltgun, 2 power axe and boltgun, 1 shield and bolt gun and frag cannon. 2 RZ with TL. My gunline is 3 cadian squads with mortars and the choice of leman russ battle cannon and or gatling cannon (2 different list) so would you take another stormbolter squad or stalker squad (think I would be throwing the heavy bolter in either squad as well. Your opinions.

Do you feel like your cadians need a babysitter? Something that can support with more firepower and counterassault if needed? Then stalkers with chainswords are no bad choice.

I'm going for some stalkers just from a modelling point of view - makes a change from loads of storm bolters.

I only run stalkers with my missile launcher/heavy bolter KT.  And thats only because theyre already not moving.  Though that KT hasnt been performing well, so I'll probably be dropping back to the MSU intercessor squad.
Stalker are just hard to justify compared to Bolt Rifles on intercessors or Storm Bolters on vets.

Just like storms, stalkers need weight of fire to really come into their own. With only 2 or 3,they feel underwhelming. I've tested a 6 man squad, all stalkers, and they do better than you'ld think while being 'low threat'.

running 4 stalkers and 1 HB. Havent had a game yet so I dont know the full use of them. Only in theory. Did think of running 5 vets, 1 shield maybe a combi melta on the sergeant riding with a Watchmaster. Just potential options. Like would i need that support fire if i had the mortars and leman russ already running the support gunline fire?

My problem with that is that they arent lower threat because of the opponents perception.  Theyre lower threat because they arent as impactful as the same veterans with storm bolters.

Don't get me wrong, they arent bad.  Pre-codex, I ran stalker teams.  They're just competing with storm bolters.  I'll take extra shots with mobility over -1 AP any day.
