Kill Team

Recommended Posts

I for one am excited about Kill Team next week. Definitely going to be breaking out the cogboys and forming a team or two of my own. Considering buying the Sector Mechanicus set for it as well, plus some extra terrain for it.

So how do we think AdMech will do in Kill Team? What all are you guys going to run for yours? And more importantly, do we think Ruststalkers will actually be viable in this game?

Just curious to hear everyone's opinions on this from the AdMech perspective mainly.

I'm looking forward to making a kill team I've got some infiltrators ready to paint and will most likely add a pistol/cc vanguard leader.

I have an unbuilt box of infil I couldn't make one a rust stalker wondering if that might be a good idea.

The list I’m thinking of is this

Infiltrator alpha - 15 points

Infiltrator - 14 points

Infiltrator -14 points

All of the above with Taser goads and flechette blasters

Transuranic Arquebus Ranger 10 points

Ranger 9 points

Ranger 9 points

Ranger 9 points

Plasma vanguard 10 points

Arc rifle vanguard 10 points

Comes in at 100 points on the nose

Is the Arquebus any good though? The range is almost double the board length, I'd of thought that a Plasma would be better? I only have the codex in front of me so do not know of any changes to the stats or costs for kill team. How do Characters work?

I think they have sniper specialists maybe it will be worth it depending on the build of the sniper. That gun needs to set up absolute never move so hopefully given a commanding location it can cover a whole portion of the board denying firing lanes depending on how effective that gun is.

I cannot find the weapon costs right now, when I know I can see if the Arqubus is good or maybe just advancing some plasma Vanguard up the board is better.

As much as I love the Arqubus as a model, I just don’t see t working in kill team. The range is great, but (I believe) it’s a 5 point upgrade that you can’t use if you move.

With the amount of terrain on a board it’s going to be very difficult to make the most of the weapon. On the flip side to that you can get plasma for 3 points on a Gunner, which then is assault 3 when using a command point, and doesn’t suffer from penalties when advancing because if you make it a Heavy Specialist.

I'll be getting my AdMech on for Kill Team - the perfect excuse  I'd like to have Rangers and Vanguard to start with (in the box, but I like them also) but I'm very new to AM stuff still so there's a lot to learn. I'll be looking forward to hearing ideas and batreps

Ah thanks for correcting me. Back to the drawling board with my list then! :P

I'm currently thinking of putting this together:

Vanguard Alpha - 10 (Leader)
Phosper Blast Pistol - 0
Arc Maul - 0

Vanguard Gunner - 10 (Heavy Specialist)
Plasma Caliver - 3

Vanguard Gunner - 10
Arc Rifle - 0

Ranger - 9
Galvanic Rifle - 0
Omnispex - 1

Ranger - 9
Galvanic Rifle - 0

Vanguard - 9 (Comms Specialist)
Radium Carbine - 0

Vanguard - 9
Radium Carbine - 0

Infiltrator Princeps - 15 (Combat Specialist)
Taser Goad - 1
Fletchette Blaster - 0

Ruststalker - 14
Transonic Blades - 0

Every model has something individual about it, and I'm hopeful it'd be quite successful in matched play.

Thanks for the points _Valten_, yeah Arquebus is just no :sad.:!  Bu But Plasma!

It does make me excited that the Rustalker/Infiltrators are now pretty equal. I actually have a box of them from back in 7th when I was building a War Convocation. You've got Rustalkers for T5 models and Infiltrators for Power armor and mobs.

Overal it does feel like some weapons are subject to requirements. Arquebus doesn't have Range or Characters to be very useful, Arc Rifles have no vehicles for the extra damage. So Plasma seems really good with its assault profile and 3 shots. I also used to love Arc Mauls but it looks like Taser is definitely the better choice now.

...

Oooh are Arc rifles free? That changes a few things.

We only have access to both Sicarians(15 Normal, 16 Princeps) and Vanguards/Rangers(9 Normal, 10 Heavy/Alpha) so you can make up any army you like from that, up to 100 Points.

Weapons add a few points which are above. I think all pistols are free?

4 x 15 + 16(Princeps) + 5(5 x Taser Goads) = 81

or + 10(5 x Power Swords) = 86

Was more a question of how good they would be.

Say I went

Infiltrator princep- goad and blaster

2x infiltrator- sword and stub

Ruststalker princep- blades

Ruststalker- blades

Is there a good source for points yet? Is this around the 100 mark?

If it isn't ok then the Mods are doing an awful job at removing the pics in the other army sections

LucidNinja if you have a single vanguard or even better Vanguard Alpha with close combat weapons that would finish your squad off with a -1 Toughness to the enemy.

A 22" x 30" playing surface is (according to some guy named Pythagoras) still ~37.2" across the diagonal.

That's a bit less than 2/3 the range of the arquebuse.

On the upside, if you deploy in the middle of the short edge, you'll only suffer the long range penalty when shooting at the last 2" of the opposite corners (11"x30" -> ~32" diagonal).

Then again, it's kill team, so there will most likely be intervening terrain.

Oh thank the omnissiah 50/50 on plasma is.. urm... fun?

Infiltrator princep- goad and blaster = 15 + 1 + 0 = 16
2x infiltrator- sword and stub = 2 x (14 + 2 + 0) = 32
Ruststalker princep- blades = 15
Ruststalker- blades = 14

Vanguard Alpha Bob = 10

Total = 87.

I am not completely sure on the weapons costs as I cant find a clear photo but the model prices are easily seen on a few videos. I am calculating with points values of all pistols at 0, Taser at 1(In this thread) and power swords at 2(Same as the Space Marine entry). You could possibly fit another model in.
