Neophyte hybrid kill team loadouts

Recommended Posts

I've been on here before, but haven't started gsc army yet, but just picked up the Kill Team box to start out.

I'm wondering what weapon loadouts for the neophyte hybrids would be competitive for kill team, but also carry over in a larger force in 40K?

I haven't played kill team yet only regular 40k games..

Usually i run neophytes barebones - 10 guys in squad, no special stuff - only to cap some objective, ambush on objectives or act as meatshield

Other configuration - 20 man blob + special weapons mainly mining laser - decent shooting and not scary enough for oponent to wipe them out straight away. Good for sniping some power armor or other infantry, lasers  (with good rolls) can do some serious damage to armor.

I tried some heavy weapon teams (las canons) but not an option from the box :P I guess without some buffs with "to hit rolls" they're too much 50/50 with their shooting

The general gist I'm seeing from a few demo games and video presenters is that a mix of shotguns and autoguns with a splash of special/heavy weaons of choice go a long way.

What you need to take into consideration is that what works in 40k doesn't have to work in kill team: it may be similar but has different dynamics.

I'm sure the competitive mob will voice their opinions.

My dice were unfortunately atrocious in my first couple games but seeing a couple things -

1) Make sure to take some weapons with AP, I didnt and it was terrible vs MEQs

2) Remember your cult ambush rolls before the game begins.

3) Stick to cover as much as possible - saves are poor across the board for GSC.

4) Dont go too elite - GSC units die quite quickly from shooting or assault probably best to go heavier on numbers.

5) Flamers are pretty good, you can advance and still fire, deadly on overwatch. The board is quite small so getting into close quarters happens really quick. (* Remember that overwatch requires LOS, but we have a tactic that overrides this - cant recall the name atm.)
