Aging Bronze painting help?

Recommended Posts

Nihilakh Oxide is a good example of where GW gets things right with their technical paints; many of their normal paints I could take or leave, but several of their technical paints are just awesome. I use it 'neat' but you need to paint it on with a bit of care just where you want it and not treat it like a wash unless you're going to do a wet wipe of it. it's a nice way to get a somewhat pronounced effect of the oxidation, but just in the nooks and crannies so it doesn't overwhelm the metal. 2-3 selective applications can give you great control to build it up a bit as well, but you're right and it will go overboard very easy if you don't use it sparingly.

That looks like GW's standard brass recipie

Warplock Bronze Base

Agrax wash

Brass Scorpion

highlight with runelord brass

Then to age it, apply Nihilakh Oxide, I prefer a two brush approach, wash on, then use a clean brush in a drybrush pattern to take it back off. Leaves a milky residue but removes most of the colour
