Kill Team Tactica: Adeptus Astartes

You just add them by filling out their data card and adding them to your Command Roster.

Any source for that? I really couldn't find anything about it.

Page 203.

When you have already played 1 mission at least with the command roster, you can then, when making a Kill Team, take units from the roster, or just completely new ones, in any combination you want. Any new ones that are included in the Kill Team for said battle, MUST be used in said battle, and from then on, they are added to the Command Roster.

"If a player has already played a mission in the campaign, they can choose their kill team from any of the models on their campaign command roster, but they can also choose to add new models with new datacards to their kill team (though see Adding Members to a Fire Team on page 205), or even use a kill team chosen entirely from new models. Each time a player completes a datacard for a model that they add to their kill team, they should also record that model's details on their roster. Adding new models to their kill team is the only way for players in a campaign to increase the number of models on their roster."

What do you guys think of an Intercessor Gunner (Demolitions) with Stalker Bolt Rifle + Auxil- Granade Launcher?

For a Primaris-only list, it's exactly what I'd run too.  Ideal for reaching out and hurting someone.

On any list, I think.

I normally do not play primaris models. As a Dark Angel player, I fall on the camp of players that feel Primaris do not fit with the chapter organization lore-wise, so I do not play them. But I do own ONE intercessor.

I play him in Kill Team as it is the best possible way to bring in grenades, and, much as I prefer Tacticals, it comes down to a point where you just hinder yourself by not taking the intercessor gunner. Evil GW has made it so that not taking him is really shooting yourself in the leg. So I bring him along.

And, he is a beast.

While my tacticals run around shooting bolts at the air and tickling my enemies bellies, this guy, at his current lv 2 in the campaign I play him in, shoots with his Intercessor Marksmanship Tctic and a nearby Comms guy for support, at 2+ against obscured opponents, and blows them to bits with a 2+ to wound.

Don't know if anyone else has said this, but I am tempted to get the first few issues of warhammer conquest to get 3 intercessors and 3 reivers and use them as my kill team, in 100pts I can make it:

Intercessor srg with bolt rifle and power sword (combat)

Intercessor gunner with bolt rifle and aux grenade launcher (demo)

Intercessor with bolt rifle  (comms)

Reiver srg with carbine and knife (leader)

Reiver with knife, pistol and grapnel

Reiver with knife, pistol and grapnel

comes to 100pts on the dot and I think it is pretty brutal

Why take a Stalker Bolter w/ Grenade launcher? I’m just curious because since day one I’ve used a Primaris with grenade launcher as Demo but never bothered with upgrading the rifle since the guy is always running around pumping grenades.

I use all Primaris except a scout Heavy Bolter. I have been quite happy with my dual Reiver setup and since I love Primaris the fact is the actually feel decent in KT!

Grenade Launcher has 30" range and -1 AP and Stalker Bolter has 36" range and -2 AP, so having both gives you more flexibility.

Also, Masterful Marksmanship works only with Stalker Bolters and they cost 0 points, so there's really no downside.

Mainly for the Tactic that gives an Intercessor equipped with a Stalker Bolt rifle +1 to hit like the level 1 Sniper Tactic. Since you're only shooting with the AGL anyway your Bolter variant doesn't really matter so you're free to take the Stalker bolt rifle and unlock that Tactic and then go with Demolition specialism to enjoy both benefits of better hitting and better wounding. ;)

Keep in mind that the Conquest Intercessors probably won't come with the options you mentioned.

Yup, but it gives me a chance to raid my bit box to get some good conversions and unique kill teams in

Having the following:

Intercessor Sgt - Power Sword

Intercessors Gun - Stalker w/GL

Tact Sgt - Grav Pistol w/ Auspex

Scout Gun - ML w/Camo

Scout Gun - Heavy Bolter

Which of the following should I take to round out the team?

Tact Gun - Plasma

Tact Gun - Flamer

Tact Gun - Melta

Thanks for the recommendations!

flamer or plasma gets my recommendation! depends if you prefer aggressive playstyles or not. A flamer may work better due to the ML you already have

This.  Exactly this.  When you absolutely need to "reach out and touch someone" in KT, this is the best way a Marine can do it.

For the record, if you have any Goliath Stub Guns, they make pretty good AGLs.  This is my first try so you can probably get better results:

Do you guys know why the weapon options for the Intercessor Sgt. are so weirdly worded? Why would I ever swap one of the 0-point-guns to take a Power Sword when I can just take one anyway?

So that you can use models like this one...

Ah thanks, that makes sense. I'd probably slap a bolt rifle on that guy though. The Intercessors kit has one with a strap iirc.

The gun with the strap is the one I used in my picture above for my AGL conversion.

The model Knight of Lupus just showed is over I actually just worked on for my combat SGT.

He is pointed out for a rifle but I'm not sure how I'll model it. Feel free to pop into either of my WIP posts to help me figure it out!

Even though I have 3 5-man multipart Intercessor squads now, I'm still tinkering with the stub gun AGL.  I trimmed that bottom rail off of the barrel and it looks a lot better than before!

It's not as nice as the real thing, but it's not a bad way to upgrade Dark Imperium Intercessors.

So then I decided on trimming the top rail off, too, so it sits more flush with the boltgun body.

Once the glue dries I can neaten it up and I think that will be it.

It seems like astartes play very different in matched play compared to campaign play.

To max out my kill team I want a little bit of everything, but then it's really hard to get anything out of fire teams leveling up then...

What type of units do you keep for a fire team? Seems like you either go tacs or scouts.

Thoughts?
