I’ve not played yet, so can’t give you much in the way of helpful feedback. But I’m pretty confident you can’t have more than one of each specialist type in a matched play list. (You can on the wider roster, but not in the final team.)

I do like the way you’re sticking to the mining gear rather than more generic weapons. That works for me.

He doesn't have any repeat specialists though?

Man, I'm still building and changing my list, I've got 20 models cut out and all ready to be undercoated now, just gotta find a colour scheme, inwas thinking Rusted Claw, I like the orange main colour, more in line with miners.

Now, I've never played GSC before, and after starting last night getting them ready to undercoat, I, really excited to play them, they look fantastic and great to play. With KT having that rollay element involved, I can't wait to run them in a campaign

Now can you take 2 icons in a KT? I was thinking if you could it would cover I bigger area to help everybody.

I've only got the models from KT and 2 boxes of metamorphs/hybrids. I've got built out of those 2 buzzsaw, 2 mining drills and one rock cutter, from the acolytes I built the seismic cannon and mining laser and from them all 2 icon bearers, the rest are, grenade launcher, flamer, though I do like the Webber but haven't heard much about it whether or not it's useful to add in?

Has many used the Webber? How good is it.

I'm interested in starting Genestealer cults for kill team as well - I think it will be a nice change of pace from my Deathwatch / Death Guard.

I don't have a lot of models for them yet.  Just what came in Deathwatch: Overkill, and what will come in the upcoming Tooth and Claw box.  What else should I be looking to get?  People seem to think the saw/drill are pretty good, so I'm guessing I should pick up an Acolyte box?

Played about half dozen games now and find my regulars are two purestrains, two neophyte flamers, acolyte with rock saw and an acolyte with icon. They do most of the work while the rest of the team grab objectives or act as mobile cover...

Usually have a heavy stubber too. He hasn't killed anything, but it feels nice to have some kind of long range firepower.

Also have run an aberrant and metamorph at times, but not sure they're necessary when running the above guys.

@Fidras, from what I'm seeing the drill/saw are used alot and seem like great fun to me, I normally use death guard (them being my army for 40k) and death watch myself. And purestrains and an aberrant or 2 are good from what I've seen. Waiting for tooth & claw to get the GSC from that to add the aberrants.

Trying to make a true mining crew KT,

@Deagle_Raa, I haven't got any purestrains yet, though they are on the list to get.

So how is everyone is going with their cult guys, any stand out guys or weapons or even things that they changed from playing from the beginning til now.

I'm still building my 20 guys of the rusted claw, and busting to play them in a campaign.

I'm still in the building phase... Soon to be painting.

Currently looking at 2 acolyte fighters (heavy rock cutter and heavy rock drill), 4 neophyte gunners (GL, flamer, mining laser, seismic cannon), an aberrant with power hammer... Then fill the rest with pure strains and autoguns.

Do you find one purestrain is just not doing it? I've run one, he gets fire magnet goes down, never kills anything.

I'm going to try running more than 1.

How well does 2 work, any tips are greatly appreciated.

I played my first couple of games with GSC this afternoon against Adeptus Mechanicus, then Deathwatch. I was underwhelmed by the Purestrain Genestealers -- I took two and found their poor saves and low AP value (on most attacks) really limited them. I'll stick with them for a bit, after all I'm new to the faction and maybe I just played them poorly.

The Heavy Rock Cutter, though? That baby does work... It turned one Infernus-weilding Marine into two in record time. I'm a fan.

@mel_danes, from what I've seen, 3 seems to be a good number of purestrains, they are bullet magnets, but I see it as while they are shorting them the other heavies like rock cutter, drill or laser can get in to so their job

It's sick.  It basically just says "insta-gib anything with less than 3 wounds". :cool.:

Has anyone used the other heavy weapons, rock drill, buzz saw, seismic cannon?

From a Primaris marines perspective:

My kill team has learned to fear the rock drill and rock saw. Luckily my usual opponent hasn't figured out to leverage that fear, and keeps relying on his genestealers.

Genestealers are easily dealt with in close combat by my Reiver (leader) and Intercessor (combat) sergeants. As long as I have enough CP's for Death Denied, I use those guys to bait my opponent. So keep an eye on your opponent's CP's; try to make him/her spend them on less valuable tactics.

Back to the drill and saw: Whatever you do, make sure you get the charge. Your acolytes don't last in combat. Charge multiple models with them and divide their attacks to utilise their damage potential. Use the drill and saw in tandem for almost guaranteed overkill.

The seismic cannon and mining laser are not worth using in my opinion. Because of their limited range you're always suffering to hit penalties. Maybe use a comms specialist to counter this. In any case, don't let Intercessors stay at 15". That's their ideal range, not yours.

Regardless of your weapon choices my general advice is to stay out of sight until you can be within 12", and play to the objectives.

2 more games with my split team.

Close combat crew, 2 HRC on acolyte fighters, combat and zealot, metamorph leader with flame pistol and icon acolyte.

Followed by 4 autogun neophytes, 4 gunners, grenade, flame, stubber and seismic cannon. Flamer is my demo.

The acolyte HRC do the damage, backed up by the icon and the leader if I get the charge of, for 2 CP I fight with 3 brutal dudes before my opponent can hit back.

Industrial Brutality is the business for multi charge.

Very fun wrecked face.

Probably going to swap out the Seismic Cannon. Really did not do a lot.

The seismic cannon seems to be a very used heavy, but with the option to have a mining laser to do some serious damage with every hit is great. Some great AP, I know it's just a laser cannon, but the GSC needs it to take out marines at range.

But still gotta love the industrial smackdown they can dish out with cutters and drill
