Kill Team • Battle Reports

Greetings All,

Monday night for me is our local gaming club and time for a few games of Kill Team.

I thought it would be helpful to start this thread to place all the battles we do in KT, a place for others to see what is being played, tactics and lists, whether it be Open, Match or Narrative battles. Give your battle report a story element, fluff for your army, names, querks and so forth.

A place to add all those extras in a report, the good and bad. Add your list and what army you took on, mission type and terrain, whether it be city ruins or sector mechanicus or even jungle/forest map.

Tonight I'll be posting pics of my force, I'm trying space marines for the first time to see how they play, it'll be with sector mechanicus terrain. I'll add pics of the battle and so forth.

My force will be Carcharodon Astra, most likely up against Elder, Harlequins and Nids.

Cant wait til tonight and the games and looking forward to hearing all your posts as well.

Cheers

Greetings All,

So back from the club and a game of Kill Team.

I tried Space Marines for something different and I was against Eldar, and we played on Sector Mechanicus terrain. I do love the mechanicus better than the city ruins.

My list.

• Tactical Marine (Leader)

- plasma pistol

- auspex

• Tactical Marine (sniper)

- plasma gun

• Tactical Marine Gunner (demolitions)

- flamer

• Tactical Marine (comms)

-bolt gun

• Scout

- sniper rifle

- camo cloak

• Scout Gunner

- heavy bolter

• Scout Gunner

- missle launcher

My opponent ran Eldar, he ran Dire Avengers, 1 ranger, guardian defenders with star cannon weapon platform.

The game was search and destroy.

The game was swinging my way for the first 3 rounds, as I went up the board to take the objectives while my scouts took out the weapon platform the round which was great as it put a flesh wound on my flamer marine.

All was looking good but due to some total insane rolls he started to take my guys out, my demo marine did some serious damage on them but was finally removed by the avenger shuriken catapult rolls of 6s as well as on my leader and plasma sniper.

Once the scouts were taken down, my leader was the last guy standing on round 5 with his 4 remaining Eldar just concentrated fire on him and he fell.

What I took from this game, maybe give the heavy bolted the sniper and have him close to the comms and auspex guy to really hit the opponent. Drop the missile launcher, it was ok but was picked on straight away. I do love scouts with sniper rifle/camo cloak and that saved him so many times, as I hid in cover all the time and most of the time I readied him to try and shoot first.

But over all we had a great game, good laughs and some fantastic rolling (on his side) to turn the tide in his favour for the win.

Next week I'm thinking of running AdMech or if I get a few more models Genestealer Cult.

Cheers people and hope to hear your battle reports

》》EDIT《《 sorry for the stuff up, it was late last night I wrote it and put in the heavy bolter twice and added a chainsword to my sgt

Good rep.

Justba few comments, and if I am wrong please feel free to correct me, but:

1) if the sgt takes an auspex he cannot take anything more than a pistol. He cannot take the chainsword with the auspex

2) up to one scout gunner can take a heavy weapon, so having three would also be against the rules.

3) this part I am NOT sure at ALL but I do think you also can have up to one special weapon on one gunner, so plasma and flamer would be against the ruled as well.

At least, I think those limitations are in place. i do not have my rule book atbhand, saddly, to be 100% accurate.

As for the battle, yeah, the dice can really do a number on you unexpectedly.

ONE Tactical Marine Gunner can have a heavy weapon, however both of your Scout Gunner can have heavy weapons.

The difference is the Tactical Marine Datasheet says "One Tactical Gunner [...]" and the Scout Datasheet says "A Scout Gunner [...]".

However three Scout Gunner is not allowed. You can have only up to two Scout Gunner and up to two Tactical Marine Gunner in your Kill Team. (damn edit didn't save for some reason)

And Special Weapons? Can two Tactical Gunners bring one each? Because double plasma with a comms sgt with Auspex would be amazing!

No, same wording for heavy and special weapons for Tactical Marine Gunner.

1. Thats correct, pistol + Auspex. No Sword allowed

2. The wording is "a gunner" not "one gunner" like for Tactical Marines, so no limitation here. But having 3 Gunners is not allowed, they are 2 max.

3. Thats correct, one special weapon max for Tac Marines and one Heavy Weapon.

Well, as far as battle reports go,

My last battle was against the Death Guard. We battled for intel (5 markers on the board) on opposite ends of a road, with high ruins on both sides.

I had 3 sniper scouts, 2 heavy bolters, and 2 plasma marines.

The Death Guard had 8 pox walkers, a plasma marine, a flail marine, a heavy marine and a leader with plague knives.

I got initiative, and while the Death Guard deployed in a tight cluster on its end of the road, I took defensive positions with my snipers and heavy bolters behind barrickades on mine.

During the first battle round I took forward positions down the central road with my plasma marines, to approach the middle objective. My heavy weapons picking the enemy heavy with some helfire shells.

The Death Guard decided to spread across the objectives, and marched on with his lone flail-wielding warrior.

I managed initiative again, but failed to kill anything. Snipers just couldn't pierce that T5 on the marines; while Disgustingly Resilient made it impossible to take out his pox walkers.

The shambling bags of bones and disease got charges in, led by the plague fighter, and made quick work of my tacticals.

By turn three I was down to my snipers and a heavy bolter, with pox walkers on almost each objective.

By the end of the last battleround, the Death Guard had total board control, and I had to fall back...

Had a quick 1v1v1v1 two days ago.

Me with T'au (3 Stealth Suits, 2 Gun Drones, 1 Pathfinder with Rail rifle, 1 Recon Drone)

Drukhari (7 Kabalite Warrior, one of them with a Dark Lance, one with a Shredder and the Leader with an agoniser)

Grey Knights (5 models, Combat specialist with Hammer, Leader with Hammer, Gunner with Psilencer, one with Falchions, one with Halberd ... iirc)

Genestealer Cult (yeah no clue really. 12 models or something with two melee guys an icon and some with proper ranged weapons I think)

To paint a quick picture how the game went: I and the Grey Knight guy on the long side and opposite from me the Drukhari. The GSC sent some units over to the Drukhari but mainly fought against the approaching Grey Knights while I focussed completely on the way easier to kill Drukhari instead of the Grey Knights who luckily ignored me as well.

The GSC took out some Drukhari turn 1 (Leader included) but otherwise struggled a LOT due bad dice roll. He didn't take out a single Grey Knight over the whole game until his team broke and most of his guys proceeded to get shaken. Lesson learned by observating: don't spread out your guys too much and focus down opponents one by one.

I took out the Dark Lance guy with my Rail rifle with my very first action so it was pretty much smooth sailing from there on. Having no AP on most of my weapons (3 Burst Cannons among two Stealth Suits and the Recon Drone + 4 Pulse Carbines on the two Gun Drones) is really no issue when the opponent has only T3 Sv5+ models.

I had to focus my shooting quite a bit due the BS4+ on 18" weapons (BS5+ on Drones) despite the high rate of fire but it paid off in the end. I lost a Gun Drone, one wound on a Burst Cannon Stealth Suit and my Leader Stealth Suit with Fusion Blaster suffered a Flesh Wound.

Highlights there occured funnily enough during charges and the fight phase:

  • the first Kabalite Warrior that charged wanted to get to my Leader so I overwatched with all three Stealth Suits plus the one Gun Drone in range. I roll the Gun Drone first and it happily proceeds to kill that Kabalite Warrior. Great now my two Burst Cannon Stealth Suits can't react anymore for nothing lol (For the Greater Good special rule)
  • then the next Kabalite Warrior charges the damaged Burst Cannon Stealth Suit. As mentioned above he and my other BC Stealth Suit can't react anymore, however since my Fusion Blaster Stealth Suit didn't use FtGG since he was the charge target himself he was still allowed to help out with overwatch. A single roll, it hits and then wounds and kills the Kabalite Warrior easily (seriously, as long as you hit with a S8 AP-4 D1d6 weapon it's almost impossible to not kill your target lol).
  • That's two dead Drukhari during overwatch ... quite nasty since it pushes him quite a bit towards having to do Breaking tests. Anyway, that's it for my reactions for this turn so he charges two more Kabalite Warriors into my damaged Stealth Suit, fails to kill him and in return the Stealth Suit punches and kills one of them ... two S4 AP0 D1 attacks hitting on 5+ sometimes do work out in my favour :biggrin.:

After that the Drukhari didn't do much of anything anymore. Half of the team is gone including all the special weapons and the Leader while I still have basically everything. The Stealth Suits jump into a ruin in his deployment zone right beside another ruin with his last 4 models inside, the Burst Cannons and last Gun Drone show that 16 shots hitting on 5+/6+ doesn't mean you actually have to hit anything while the Flesh wounded Fusion Blaster hitting on 5+ (thanks to the Comms guy) goes ahead and kills another Kabalite Warrior before the Drukhari break.

By that time it was basically only me with an almost unharmed team vs the Grey Knights with an even more unharmed team but both on the opposite corners of the board and it got rather late (it was a spontaneous meet up) so we called it a day and shared the victory. :tongue.:

Great fight sfPanzer, so far I've only heard and played 1v1 battles, I'd look foward to the mayhem a 1v1v1v1 game would be.

Did you guys play just on one board or was it 2 combined and what terrain did you use, city or mechanicus?

Again great report

It was a slightly bigger than two boards since we were just using a regular gaming mat on a kitchen desk and didn't bother reducing the actual board to the correct size. Terrain was mostly the Ruins Sector from TTCombat (https://ttcombat.com/products/ruin-sector). It wasn't enough terrain for my taste on such a big board but all the tank barriers etc. served well enough as cover on ground-to-ground level.

Luckily I spend about 250€ on terrain from TTCombat and Kromlech a few weeks ago which still has to get build so I'm not really concerned about terrain at the moment lol

I have fun with the multiplayer games and find them to be good teaching aids since there’s time to explain and usually a bit of everything is going on. I had a few now where I can’t reme the results but the games themselves are some of the funner I’ve had.

I played a 4 player game early into the release... we didn't realize multuplayer games were meant to be played on 2 boards (the manual says this, but its very easy to miss), so we thought we had to play it on a single board, and it was a very chaotic mess.... fun! But hectic!

For those planning multiplayer battles, use 2 boards!!

I've only played three multiplayer games so far but it always ended in two separate 2v2s. Then again to get everyone used to the core rules it was only last man standing scenarios so no mission objectives and such so that could be part of the problem. ^^

Here's an update of my progress... and some basic game coverage:

Alright guys... this Kill Team stuff has me doing a LOT of models. I have a lot in progress but really fleshed out a lot of my Kill Team with new models. I've done a large picture update on the blog but here's a peak:

My new leader:
