Fiends, Defiler, Mutalith aesthetic

Might be picking up a TS army very soon, it doesn't contain any of the above. I'd like to eventually include them but the lack of cohesiveness with the TS aesthetic bothers me. I love the egyptian feel and also really like the beastman-avian half of the army (don't hurt me!). But the daemon engines fit in with neither of these. Does anyone use tomb king models instead? My thoughts were:

Mutalith: Necrosphinx or Warsphinx without howdah

Fiends: Mortarch without rider (conversion would be needed to add guns for a forgefiend)

Defiler: ??? There's nothing big enough

The Mutalith is the least important one, as that model is at least Tzeentchy. So maybe a Necrosphinx could be a defiler. But I guess it's a bit too small? Has anyone combined the two (doubt it would work).

Any other suggestions appreciated, though I only want to use GW models.

P.S. Yes I know tomb king models are expensive second-hand!

Using a sphinx would be great for the Mutalith, they're about the same size too. Unfortunately as you mentioned they're out of production now and when they appear on eBay it's not particularly cheap :( Fiend sounds like it'd work too, the harder one would be the Defiler as it has a somewhat unique footprint and load out.

That said, what about as a conversion project? It has the legs and is a GW kit that matches the general CSM aesthetic so maybe you could convert it to look more like a scorpion? Put the guns in on the head (maybe similar to mandibles?) and the battlecannon as a back mortar?

It's an interesting thought you have..... I will say that when I see the actual 'proper' models painted appropriately, they do seem to fit in with the Thousand Sons. I view it as expansion into the Daemonic Realm of war engines. But I do understand what you mean.

The Mutlalith is such a different beast. I actually think it fits the idea of the Thousand Sons reaching into the warp machine/warp beast pocket a little deeper..... They are (like most chaos) starved for resources. There's a lot of short stories, and material out there that suggest they'd definitely leverage such a beast. I mean.... look at Tzaangor.

But again, I understand your avian aesthetic requirement. I gave up on that a long time ago. I think it can easily be over done, but there's a lot of cool kit bashing out there too. I like WF's idea of kitbashing to create a scorprion which is a Khornate best that probably would work well either parted out, or as a whole unit.

(about 99% GW parts)

but seriously, I agree with the above, with a matching paint scheme they should fit in just fine, I always figured the Helldrake was very Tzeentchian, perhaps you could use some parts from it?
