How to build Chaos Lists?

Recommended Posts

Don't take this defeat too hard. That is was honestly kind of a d!@#-head move to make a new player fight that army. Learn from it, play other armies, learn from that, and adapt. Try 1000pt, or less, games to get the hang of things.

Always remember Death to The False Emperor, always remember Blood for the Blood God, always remember things that enhance your to hit rolls also improve your chance for Death to the False Emperor because they modify the roll (a natural roll of 5, with +1 from prescience is now a 6 and generates an extra attack). If you are going to keep facing Custodes, specialise in mortal wounds, Death Hex, and High AP, high damage attacks.

There's a reason they are called custard-cheese, even by some of their players.

Lower point battles will let you analyze and learn better. There's less moving parts and so you can think without getting overwhelmed by too many fronts. Also, if your opponent brings big powerhouses, you can focus on them and learn how to deal with it. Big battles are fun, but you need to get your feet under you first. It's an unfortunate aspect of many strategy games that more competitive players want to start newcomers on that level.

Don't get discouraged. It's an easy game to learn, but it takes time to reach competitive levels. Expect to loose a lot at the beginning, its not just you it happens to. Like my dad told me as a little kid playing chess, "you learn more by losing." Stick through it and when you get your feet under you, don't make the same mistake that custodes guy did when you play a new player, because that's what pushes people away. It's one thing to loose, it's another to feel like you didn't have a chance.

And NEVER let someone convince you to throw in the towel. DEATH TO THE FALSE EMPEROR!!! ETERNAL GLORY TO CHAOS!!! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!! I've had a single squad leader model, as my last model, single-handedly kill a 10-man marine squad and more and tabled my opponent. Tzeentch is still the weaver fates! And the dice can betray any he deems unworthy! Tell Slaanesh that you will revel in the agony of defeat and the pleasure that you take in knowing it will make you stronger! Let your laughter in the face of death rival the heartiness of Papa Nurgle's! WE ARE CHAOS!!! AND EVEN IN DEATH WE ARE VICTORIOUS!!!

Don't feel bad that you are losing. You are new at the game; that being said, being mercilessly crushed is hardly a constructive experience.

The truth is, in addition to being less experienced overall, you and other new players suffer because y'all don't have a large collection. Not only is your collection limited and less versatile, but you don't possess tons of killer units... a newb isn't likely to have a knight dominus and a squad of helverins and 60 cultists. In order to play in those 1500-2k point games, you take whatever you have. Unfortunately, points are only vaguely balanced at best, and you can't just bring 2k of whatever you like and expect it to perform against the creme de la creme of three combined Imperial codices. You are going to get bodied.

So play some smaller matches and try to find people to play against that want to give you a sporting chance.
