So the new DW Kill Team is on the way:

Sure enough there's also Dice. I tried getting a better shot of the '6' which is the =][= icon:

Nothing super fancy, but bold, striking, and a nice simple design. Perhaps most importantly the numbers are clearly visible!

I personally bought the limited dice back in 7th when the limited releases came out, and as nicely designed as they are, in tournament play you will have the odd person tell you they can't read them. You really shouldn't hear that for these ones. :)

The Kill Team itself is what we'd expect, and I'm not a huge fan of the alien trees in 40k (Sparse terrain does't do a whole lot in 40K). But in Kill Team it might be fun to explore the special rules/strategem mechanism they may have.

The trees were kind of the only option for Xenos hunters. Apart from the Eldar Gate I can't think of any other Xenos scenery.

With my wife collecting Dark Eldar we are going to have a forest! I think we can ignore the Alien World battle mat for now.

I am personally a fan of the square cornered dice from the original Deathwatch dice. I also already have 60 of them, and I don't really care about people complaining about not being able to read the numbers. They are at least visible and easily sighted, much less a dark red die with black stripes and black pips that I've seen some people use (freaking annoying). I find that they roll more consistently and less unbalanced than round cornered.

Oh he'll yeah, getting this and the dice. I'm loving my death watch it, I've never played marines before it, so I've enjoyed playing them now and have been waiting for this box set come out.

Plus I do hope that this is the beginning of the sets having death world terrain and maybe release a big box set as they did for sector mechanicus with a death world map.

Is there a release date for the box

Nothing concrete but most of the other stuff mentioned at the same time was in September. Only guessing but I would think from now till then.

There is an alien world box set coming out too, floral/vine mat with the trees as scenery.

Going to get the box for the cards and tokens and the squad, going to try to offload the trees. Pass on the dice. If 1 symbol dice were annoying to work with, 2 symbol dice is impossible imo. I don't want to try to clarify with my opponent each game what each symbol means.

I never had a problem deciphering my DW dice. The last ITC event I played against guys with missing pips on black dice. Lol!

One guy had bone coloured dice and was complaining he couldn’t read mine. I told him he could literally tell me he rolled anything as I could not decipher his bone on bone dice ( I don’t have great vision).

I do like these dice and will probably incorporate them with my existing DW dice but they are pricey as heck.

I can’t wait for this box!

I will get the box for sure for the cards, Strats, punch outs, etc. Plus I noticed in the Astartes one you get a bit of a background work up on the Kill Team.

The dice... I’m a sucker for Deathwatch so I’m going to guess I will buy 2 packs for 32 CAD, regret it almost instantly. Then buy a third one.

Somehow I have not lost any of my original DW dice but that said I probably ‘need’ the Marines the least out of this set! ( I bought the mega formation Christmas bundle 2 years ago that I still pick from! The bikes are still unused lol)

Available now to pre-order but costs $22 more than the Drukhari box and the other previously release boxes. Other than dice...what the hell makes DW cost so much more? Hell...Drukhari get 10 models and DW only gets 5.

***EDIT***

I didn't realize that there's two versions. The collection box that has dice and the starter set with no dice. But the price is still higher than the Drukhari. Without the dice it's $60 retail and $51 online. I was thinking it would be priced similar to the last two boxes that came out at $42 online. Not sure what's special about the contents that demands a $9 price difference but it is what it is I guess.

I just want the cards. Extra models are a bonus...terrain is fugly and I don't like the dice...having my own made anyways. I didn't realize there are two versions, the collection and the starter. Starter is a little less money and no dice. Probably the way I'll go if I order the box. Guess I could sell the terrain to someone that actually likes it. Keep the rest of the contents.

I think its just because the DW are newer models and GW is leveraging that fact. Wyches are pretty old models. The DW models are more "Soulful" than tactical marines so cost more.

I had two games today with the following list:

Intercessor Sergeant - Power Sword (leader)

Black Shield - Storm Shield - Power Sword (combat)

Veteran - Frag Cannon

Veteran - Combi Melta - Power Sword

Veteran - Bolter - Power Sword

I was teaching the game to someone new to the hobby ... used my Ultramarines Kill Team. Was really fun and she wants to play again.

Same here! Shame about the dice having Icons on two sides.

We only used two specialists each including a leader to keep it simple.

Both games ended in a draw which was good - opponent really enjoyed both games. My KT was quite deadly; first game the Dice really really screwed me.
