Hi,

Took the opportunity of Tooth and claw boxes and sold the genestealers cult halves and some redemptors.

Now I have:

- 4 * Space Wolves Primaris Battle Leader

- 4 * 5 Primaris Intercessors
- 4 * 3 Primaris Aggressors
- 1 Primaris Redemptor Dreadnought
- 1 redemptor
- 1 dark imperium
- 1 know no fear

what should I complete in terme of support character? do I need some more units?

PS: I have a bunch of other stuff like several knigts (armiger/helverins/questoris) and contemptor. I also have old (20+ years) space marines and predators but they don't mix well visually.

A few notes:

Aggressors are crazy amounts of shooting! A 5-man squad, at 185 pts pumps out 30 +5d6 shots if it moves and doubles that if it stood still last turn.

You will need anti-tank which means Hellblasters or Imperial Mortis Contemptor Dreadnoughts. (I think they look really good in a Primaris Army)

Typing on my phone it is supposed to be.

Mortis Contemptor Deeadnought. It is just a Contemptor Dreadnought that buys guns in pairs and is a Heavy Support choice. I have played a lot with arming it with 2x twin autocannons and 2x twin lascannons. Both are amazing.

can a pattern canon/lascanon be attached to a normal contemptor? or do I have to buy the contemptor body to FW? This is a budget: 45£+13+13 = 71£ = the budget of buying a valiant knight!!!

You can indeed attach Las cannon arms to the body of the plastic Contemptor.

As for heroes, I'd look at Logan Grimnar and Njal Stormcaller. They don't look out of place next to the Primaris as they wear bulky Terminator armour.

When you look close to the primaris range of products, it is amazing to see that after more than one year, the key marketing army of games workshop has almost nothing: no transport, no speed faction, few weapons set up, and in the heros department it is even worse.

Key marketing is space marines, not primaris specifically.

The distinction between the two is mostly created by the fans rather than GW themselves.

No they didn’t. Most of the marine range is recent up to date kits with modern detailing levels.

They did the Primaris because they were running out of ideas to add new units to marines, so decided to invent a new type with some different design directions.

To be fair there were several issues facing Marines as they were, but that was definitely the biggest one. Add in them not being properly in scale and their statline being less and less "elite" feeling on the table and it becomes time to impliment some kind of massive shift to fix things.

Add in the fact that the threat against the Imperium was becoming so over the top that the Imperium as we knew it should have been dead a while ago if it wasn't for plot armour and it basically becomes time to unroll a massive upgrade across the board so that the Imperium itself can stand against the increased threat without GW doctoring the results and making their foes basically useless just so the status quo never shifted.

Basically the setting had broken and needed fixing so that the threats to the Imperium could go back to feeling like threats and not just artificially hamstrung by plot devices just so the Imperium didn't collapse.

Yes, whilst I think many of the relatively recent additions to the marine line are really good, their last big one the Centurions were a big failure IMO and showed they had run out of ideas a bit.

As for scale, I disagree, I think scale issues are only a thing in some people’s minds. I have no issues with the scale or proportions of classic marines.

Added to that, Primaris marines aren’t actually a different scale. They are bigger (which they are meant to be by the fluff) and have different proportions to classic marines, but they are the same scale.

This. The better proportions and them being taller is why I decided to go with Primaris. They just look 10 times better than regular Marines in my eyes. Now all they need is fancy armoured units like the BA Sanguinary Priest and BA Jump Pack Chaplain so they get a little bit more flavour and it doens't look like clone wars.

The previewed HH Blood Angels are a great example how to make standard models much more flavourful and pleasing to the eye and it's exactly what Primaris are lacking visually for now (note: not every Primaris model should be over the top of course but Captains and such should and regular models should have SOMETHING at least).

Better proportions in relation to armies that should be shorter than Marines (like Guard) is what most of us mean when we say the new kids are more proportional.

Plus the larger model size honestly makes them a delight to paint. Then again I've always like painting larger models over smaller ones.

You might benefit from a couple of units of Inceptors, they bring some mobility and some decent anti infantry firepower with assault bolters, although most Primaris stuff is kitted out to deal with infantry already so might be a bit redundant there but the mobility is nice, especially for an all Primaris army.
