Iron within, Iron without

I am taking a break from my 20 year journey being a loyalist, sorry Raven Guard. I was hugely inspired by the thread ”amidst brethern we bleed” and starting an Iron Warriors-Army. If you have not seen that thread i command you to read it and watch it, very good

My Army will be composed of mainly cultists and Dreadnoughts (since i love them). My plan is to start painting my 2 leviathans and 2 contemptors in to Iron Warriors.

But first; my first 2 Iron warrior-legionaries. No skull-transfers yet since i need to order them.

Continuing with a third member of the first squad and the beginnings of the first of 16 berserkers added to my force. I dont want the berserkers to look like christmas red jokers. I want them to look like battered killers drenched in dry blood.

Liking the blood splatters on the sergeant of the new squad.

Good to see one of those big fellas. What's your recipe for the blackened steel? Could be a a possibility for my Iron Hands.

Black undercoat -> medium drybrushing of leaderbelcher-> generous wash of nuln oil-> medium drybrushing of runefang steel -> stipple typhus corrosion in various places -> stipple runefang steel as scratches/battledamage done

Thanks buddy, with the exception of the last two stages, that's what I've been doing for my Iron Tenth, might try those for some added depth.
