Supreme Command Detachment WIP

Was lacking in the close combat phase and kept hearing about BAs captain. Decide to read up on blood Angel's and include them in my imperium soup with Deathwatch and Astra Militarum. Still working out the fluff. But for the most part my DW follow the yaujta code and the only thing I can really think of is they have a rivalry with the blood Angel's on who can take on the biggest game. Problem I run into is the fact that this is Deathcompany as my elite option. But I'll figure it out.

As for my supreme command detachment,I'm running lemartes + captain with thunder hammer + sanguinary priest + 10 DC with 3 thunder hammers and 7 bolter and chainswords.

As of right now I kicked it off with my own kitbashed version of lemartes.

Kitbashed my detachment and ended up saving money. The stormcast prosecutor bit set was the base for these guys. For $16 got 3 and with bit options purchased was able to spend only 70 bucks for the whole detachment. The only thing was didnt have proper jet packs for my hqs, but figured the cut pack packs and wing set would suffice. Either way hope you like and hope I did him justice.

Not to mention I had a ton of SW bitz left. But this was before I found out about the new abilities space wolves were getting.

Very nice conversion indeed! Where does the skull-helmet comes from?
Stormcast bodies are nice cause they bring our boys up in height and give better body proportions. Those wings are also very nice. Although I know some nasty players who love to exploit the fact, that they are sometimes very hard to hide behind terrain pieces...

Thanks, and yea there considered jump packs. Skull helmet is a chaos skull helmet shaved down. And that's weak that they do that. Shouldn't be penalized for making something look cool.

 

I like the stormcast models. Cause you are right. Gives it that neccessary bulk. The only thing is though the torsos are slimmer. That was the annoying part to fix. But it pays off. HQ should always be bigger than the norm to me.

2nd hq for the supreme command... sanguinary priest, the thing was i couldnt find the proper bits to really make a priest so i used what I had and what I ordered. I went a lil overboard on him, and he really could have been my BA Captain. Either way hope you like.

Very nice conversions. I like the meld of AOS armor and marine. Yours are a little flashier than mine, but I really like what you've done. Can't wait to see your army.

The only problem is the marine torsos are slimmer. And even if you bulk it out you would still have 2 belts so you could either make a sash belt or put some accessories on their sides. But thanks overdid it on him, making the captain look plain.

After completing lemartes and the priest, I wanted to keep the captain stormcast based. I come to realize that I didnt like how the Captain looked, and felt he was a bit plain.

so I decided to amp him up a bit. Couple of hrs and small bit placement I like the revision better. More intimidating and lore wise he would be the connection to allying my yaujta deathwatch and blood Angel's.

I saw on pinterest somebody used a grey knight terminator torso and regular space marine back, so I used that idea but couldn't get it right. So I shaved off the bulk of the terminators back, glued a nurgle cape to the back. Melt the two pieces together and filed it smooth. Messed up on the hood when melting so cut that down and used an ork iron nob jaw as a hood / trophy that came together nicely. With accessories to fill in the gaps to mask the bulkiness of his armor.

On the back of the wings was a stormcast emblem, scraped it off but didnt know what to throw in the, my scrape job was not as clean so I threw him a backup knife just in case he got shot down, disarmed or so.

The deathwatch shield and pad came about last minute. But I really liked the shield better than my custom one. So the captain ended up being the link to my deathwatch and blood Angel's being allies.

This guy was fun to build a tad bit on the bulky side but I like it that way. I actually cant wait to paint and play him. Either way I hope you all like.

Very interesting! The ternminator torso actualy looks good on the stormcast legs.
I think that the ork-jaw piece shows what your captain has been missing from the beginnig: the Iron Halo. 
The DW shield is awesome. I need to get one and convert it at some point.

I'm assuming the toothed gorget is NOT the result of a Chaos mutation. Did this guy kill a Tyranid combat form and take its lower jaw as a trophy?

 - you are so right, problem was i used my last halo on my lemartes conversion. Now i did think about cutting the halo off the gravis captain model, but by the time i built him up, it would have been cluttered in between the jaw, back pack, and the wings coming off the hammer, and they are pretty much stuck there now (would look a mess if i tried to take them off) Thanks by the way, was contemplating on adding more bits to it, maybe some purity seals, but the deathwatch shield looks so cool i dont want to touch it.

- Thanks man appreciate it. Lol naw the stormcast torso had a bit of a collar to slap on a jaw trophy, its an orc jaw, the same jaw that came from the skull on his knee. which later rubbed me the wrong way, cause he could essentially get stabbed by his own trophy if an enemy was to yank his head down or something which was another reason i went with the revision. That essentially turned him into an ork hunter.

 

and you may be right, i did give him a bolt pistol, just wish i had something else to go there. I also need to figure it out with the other two, there scrape jobs were a little cleaner but we will see. may have to bit shop for them.

Possibly, as of rn they are only an allied unit. So the 3 and death company were the only units I thought of doing. If I did. I would have to use alot of other parts considering I have spread out SG parts amongst my Deathwatch.

After having discussions on different boards amped him up a bit more to distinguish his service and some call outside to other things that I agreed needed to change.

to follow suit that he has yaujta influence still in his blood from his service with the deathwatch, gave his honored shield some definite wear and tear. Ork blade embedded and broken off into his shield. Some bullet holes, and a few xeno scratches.

Gave him a BA hammer that was a paint to put on since it came from a termie hand

And the knife is gone, and a shrine took its place.

To complete my Supreme Command Detachment, added in the Death Company. As of rn, 10 man strong ( 3 Thunder hammers , 7 bolter and chainswords )

So i tried my best to keep it all distinctive, not one pose is the same. Pretty much the part list was:

- Khorne Bezerker Legs & Torsos

- Sanguinary Gaurd Legs

- Death Company Torsos / Boltguns & Chainswords

- Space Wolves CC Weapons (Cheap as hell it was, 4 Chainswords and 4 Bolt Pistols for less than 2 bucks ) just scraped the runes off

- Blood Angels Shoulder Pads

- Hellblasters Heads ( Cheaper )

- Old School Jumpacks ( 10 of them came out to be 10 bucks )

- 3D Printed Bases ( Set of 5 I believe was 2 or 3 bucks )

- Deathwatch Heavy Thunder Hammers (2x)

Any SG Legs got KB Torsos / KB Legs got DC Torsos ( every now and then i through in an generic astartes torso ). I like them, but i also hate the old school squatting legs makes them ridiculously small. I really do hope they pump out some more primaris poses to potentially model different units

I wanna add 5 more, then i can move into Vanguard Detachment to potentially open it up, I have options, I have a basic dread that can be converted to anything but we will see, because DW dreads are not the best. so It could go another way.

Nice! I also use some SW chainswords in my DC. As you said- pretty cheap. Also they possess certain savagery I find very appropriate for the DC.

Although I also agree with you that 'normal' Marines need height, the Primaris range is so far very disappointing for me when we talk about conversion potential. Nothing like old Marines.

Supreme Detachment became a Vanguard detachment and almost turned into an additional battalion but faq 2 came around and didnt feel like adding a battalion to get more flyer units in. So im sticking to vanguard till i find an oppritunity to kitbash scouts.

With this being said, i realized the synergy that ELITE blood angels had, and had to grab some more units for options. Thus the sanguinary guard came into play.

I kitbash everything, but this project put me over. Im done using sanguinary guard bits. They are unique but too distinctive and realize i peppered their bits everywhere. So i switched it up a bit....

- so pretty much fatigued from building these guys. Sanguinary torsos are extremely form fitting and distinctive. And matching them to stormcast legs was rather annoying. But after a bit i got into the groove. Since i decided to do powerfist over other. Did not feel they wrist mounts. Only one got one out the squad and he would be considered elder of the guard. Wanted to go with hoods to hide the mystery and the option to say they are hiding there death mask under their hoods. Witness fear concpet for when they pull their hoods off. Also. I hate power fist now, there was barely any room to make them dynamic, and there just really bad poses. But i did what i could. Thought about adding halos but it might be too much.

My ancient, wanted a traditional armor but in the process he is really bland, might try to position another arm, instead of out he will have it drawn down with more of a glaive appeal. Gave him am actual death mask to represent his title. Kindof regret the cape, but definitely tell me what you think about him when i go to work on him. -

Thats it for now. Currently working on company vets. After the faq realized i needed more dakka to clwar screens. So stormbolters over regular bolters.

Basically creating a death star with boltgun turrents, while having meat shields (CV bodyguard rule) with Banner of sacrifice, think they qill make for a durable detachment.

I agree that it can be a pain to position them in a more interesting way. The SG one is especially saddening - all that detail... and so little life in it! Just slumping on the side giving a feel of too much weight. Still I think you got the job done really well.
With fists I would play more with the angles and rotation - chop at elbow and rotate, position the arm away from the body filling the space with greenstuff/ plastic/ glue.
Check my DC power fist guy. I opted for the "I'm gonna smash your face!" pose and added some more plastic from the sprue frame. Not the best in the world work but with black armor it does the job.
