Kill Team Tactica: Tyranids

Greetings All,
So after looking through the posts here I haven't come across a Tyranids Tactica post and thought I'd start one.
I've never played them and to be honest was never interested in them in 40k, but after building my GSC team I've looked into a KT of Tyranids now. So I've built to see what others think, so believe it looks good and if it is I'll just hunt down the minis to build it.

So critic away

Cheers

I'd be seriously concerned about the opponent sniping the Warrior and then just clearing some T3 Sv6+ models before having lost due everything else being locked in a permanent state of shaken.

So I recently swapped to bugs due to a lack in my local meta. I have been having quite a bit of fun and success with a list based around a few warriors and gaunts.

Genestealer leader (extended carapace and adrenal glands) - usually hides and pops out turn 3/4.

Warrior gunner heavy with venom cannon (boneswords, flesh hooks) - good at killing a target at range, can also mix it up close

Warrior comms with deathspitter (boneswords, flesh hooks) - buffs venom cannon as much as possible while advancing into enemies/objectives

Warrior combat with detahspitter (boneswords, flesh hooks) - tries to get into melee asap, but can still shoot

5 hormagaunts - all around bodies, swamp objectives, eat overwatch, mob up on enemy models

I recently played in a commander KT tourney using the nova missions and a tyranid prime commander. It was crazy.

Like... crazy in a good way, or...?

I always try to bring along at least 1 lictor. The things are murderously fast and very hard to gun down without the assistance of flamers.

I do not want to make a new post and there has been questions posted about starting a nid kill team so I brought this back up.

Is there any nid players on this board that can provide feedback?

Is the faction underwhelming even with the release of the elites sub factions?

Check out Beeranid40k on Youtube - he has a bunch of experience with Nids in KT. He also breaks down top placing factions from KT events which is helpful since lists aren't as easy to find as they are in 40k.

From what I have played against and seen placing in events a single Lictor or Warrior with 18-19 Hormagaunts is a very scary list. It has a horde of fearless bodies that can play both the objective game or killing game equally well with insane mobility. Tyranids have good tactics for fighting, mobility and durability to spend CP on. It is not without weaknesses however as it takes up your entire Command Roster and leaves you open to being hard countered without being able to adjust like you normally would with a more flexible roster. I believe the general strategy for that list is to hide the Lictor / Warrior while giving Synapse and swamp your opponents shooting with charges. After that your Leader can move around and kill while you play objectives.

I'm not sure what Elites brought to them as there is no Nid player in my regular playgroup at the moment but given how objective focused KT seems to be and their placements at large competitive events over the past year I think they a strong faction.

A quick glance at the available Hive Fleet adaptions shows me they have access to reroll charges, rolling 3 dice pick the highest / charge after falling back and a few other viable choices.

I plan on running three warriors (I have three warriors left over from the Shield of Baal boxset), and as many hormagaunts as I can afford with the left over points. One warrior will be a leader with rending claws and either a death spitter or devourer, one a combat specialist with rending claws and bone swords, the third a heavy specialist with venom cannon and rending claws. I like HF Gorgon, purely from a colour scheme perspective, but as a bonus I feel their "chapter tactic" could be good for such a list. When I get home I'll post my list. I feel it would be an easy colour scheme to achieve with contrast paints, with the flesh being done with militarum green and the carapace with skeleten horde. On the warriors I could spend a little time and add a few extra highlights.

Here is my list. I’m torn between taking as many hormagaunts as I have listed, or culling a couple and buying toxin sacs and adrenal glands for the rest. Thoughts and options? C+C please.

Nids are definitely my favorite faction to play in Kill team currently, and mine standard list looks pretty similar to this. The major difference being that I have a Lictor as the leader.

Hormagaunts charge around the map for objectives or swarming targets, 2x warriors are a static/semi mobile fire base usually a back field objective, Lictor claims forward objectives and/or supports the gaunt swarm
