Intro of a Harlequin form - or - a (Aeldari)noobs tale

I would like to start collecting a Harlequin force wich will later propably be fleshed out with some cw-aeldari.

 

The Harlequins are ment to be a sideproject for my Dark Angels to get a little diversment in play- and paintstyle.

I like them for being pretty mobile, somthing I can't say about my DA, and have a variaty of color schemes.

 

To start I want to take advantage of the anniversary of my local GW store and get me some stuff to build on.

To be precise I thougt about something like two squads of Troupes, a Starweaver eatch and maybe a Shadowseer.

Equipment wise I propably go with fusion pistol/embrace but thats not fixed now.

After there is not is not that much of choices in the codex I don't think I can go terribly wrong with that.

 

As masque I thougt about using the soaring spite, or at least include a detechment in the later army.

 

Do you have any advice where to go from here? Or am I misstaken from the start?

How to build your army will largely be based on what role you need them to fill in the overall list. If they are the sole force (All Harlequin army), then that lends itself to a mix of all things in the book, as they all fill particular roles.

 

If you are planning to use them with craftworlds, then you need to figure out which things your harlequins are doing, and which your Craftworld detachments are doing. This is the most finicky, as balancing the forces is nuanced.

 

Harlequin haywire bikes and characters are all great for their points. Troupes, when compared to craftworld equivalents, are expensive and squishy. If you do not properly support them they will have a hard time.
