Guessing the new Xmas Battleforces

As a big fan of the Battleforces released the last two holiday seasons, I was wondering what the new 4 are going to be and what might be in them.

My wishlist is for another Imperial Guard and Space Wolf box, but I doubt there’d be any new models they could put in there.

My guess is definitely an Ultramarines primaris box, a Tyranids box, a Chaos Marine box, and a Dark Eldar box.

The primaris box seems ripe for release with the expansion of the line in recent months, while the other three have a large (and old) plastic line and have yet to receive a dedicated battleforce.

Anyways, those are my thoughts. What’s yours?

Xmas Battleforces, new ones will be back for the holiday.

tau: 1x commander, 1xRiptide, 2x teams of crisis suits: 185usd

okrs: warboss, 2x squig cars, 2x scrapjets

primaris: inceptor x2, repulsor x1, intercessor x1

Judged by what GW pushed over the year...

probably primaris (aggressors, ...)

probably death gourd/nurgle

hopefully primaris (anything but aggressors)

maybe orks

maybe GSC (unlikely, since we had that last year)

unlikely: ynnari, mixing aeldari and drukhari models lead by ynnari character

when hell freezes over: sisters of battle (all metal force to get rid of old stock before the "emperor willing" release)

probably sigmarines for AoS

I am thinking more along the way they pushed Forgebane and now the Tooth and Claw Box: singular new models!

Primaris Box (for all Astartes Fans) - regular mix of units (complimentary to those in Tooth and Claw) + new Captain with new Loadout (Powerclaw? Thunderhammer? Stormshield!?)

Ork box, mix of old units (maybe a bit balanced so you get something to compliment the speed freaks box), with a new Warboss or other Character?

Genestealer Box maybe (also balanced to expand the force from Tooth and Claw) with the Gunslinger Pal

Fourth Box could be anything. Eldar or CSM, maybe to get rid of old stocks a bit, before the (rumored) new releases?!

Has a battle force box ever had new models in it? I don't think any units will come out with them.

If I was going to guess how they will go it would be:

SM=Dark Imperium forces+repulsor

IK=Dominus+armigers (or a single Questoris)

GSC=old+new models

Orks=old+new models

DG=Dark Imperium forces+plague crawler

I’m going from memory but I think one of the things they said about the battleforces last year was that they were aimed at armies that traditionally field a larger number of models to help people build up a respectable force more easily.

If I’ve remembered correctly and they follow the same principle this year I wouldn’t expect a Knights one or a Custodes one, they’re pretty low model count armies.

I hope I’m wrong though, ideally we would get a completely different range from the ones last year so every faction has their moment in the sun :)

Deathwatch got one last year, and suit Tau have got a couple. There was also a 1st company box a few years ago. Super elite boxes are not as common, but do still come out.

I've been hoping for a start collecting box for primaris and custodes respectively, for a bigger box tempestus would be nice.

There is an easy to build Primaris collection on the GW site but I doubt that’s what you want though eh?

I'd hope Tyranids seeing as they discontinued the Tyranid Swarm box and have failed to put any gaunts *the Tyranid basic troop* in the last 2 start collecting boxes.

2x gargoyle broods

1x harpy

1x spore mine cluster

or

1x tervigon

2x gaunt broods

1x hive guard

something like these?

Funny how those boxes had almost no duplicate kits in them so aren't that useful for that purpose. The one ironstrider in the admech box was pretty much useless except to force you into either buying multiple battleforces and end up with excess units or require you to buy more individual ironstriders.

If I had to put a bet on one, I’d say we’re getting a tyranids box this holiday. They have a plethora of plastic kits to choose from, are horde friendly, and they haven’t had a battleforce yet.

Without looking up prices to see if it equals the magic $230 mark, here’s my guess as to contents:

Hive Tyrant

2 troop choices either genestealers, horms, or termagants

Warriors or venomthrope box

Toxicrene box

The toxicrene/maliceptor box is almost a no brainer to me. It’s not a very competitive model and I’m sure they have inventory they’d love to offload.

I meant more something like the SW side from tooth and claw. Full kits but with a bundle discount.

Tooth and Claw was such a fantastic discount for everything that you got, I am not sure I can see them doing the same that close together for Primaris again. The only non-Primaris you are missing after Tooth and Claw are Inceptors, Reivers, Hellblasters and a Repulsor. Alongside the stuff from Dark Imperium, you basically have an entire army of Primaris. Buy two First Strike boxes or a single Reiver combat squad and you own everything they have except a Repulsor.
