This battle report has a lot of buzz and hype. How cool is that!  I'm wishing for old school pictures of the table, where they put in the colored map and stills from the game. That would be very cool.

Me too. Easiest format to follow what was going on. Latest are better than for ages but the "old school" maps were great

I will generally not pay attention to a battle report that doesn't involve maps and arrows, though I'll make an exception if this one doesn't.

That is why I love this forum
Today I read the interview with Mr Chambers and feeled like a 13 year old again. I thought I was the only one but you guys are just as geeky as I am. :D

Oh and you guys are all wrong. Andy should make a pumped up 2. Edition for BOTH 40k and 30k.
That'll be the shiat.

Was Facebook friends with Andy back when I used to do the whole Facebook thing and had about a half hour conversation with him via PM once. He's a really great guy. I asked him what his favourite to work on were and he told me BFG and Starship Troopers, I told him what q fan of his work I was, even talking about the Piscina V campaign that ran in WD all those years ago, and telling him how cool it would be to work in the design studio, however unlikely that would be and he told me that there is plenty of work going in game design for other companies in the industry.

My RL fanboi moment was when I met Rob Paulsen, the voice actor who did the voice of Raph in the original Turtles cartoon and worked on Pinky and the Brain and Animaniacs for WB, I barely sounded coherent talking to him, but he played such a huge part in my youth.

I do find it hilarious that some people were saying the size of newer marine stuff looks great next to regular humans like Cadians, and then GW upsized the humans so they are the same height as marines again

Indeed, youre more likely to get a job with GW after demonstrating compotence working with other game manufcturers.

Same applies to Black Library. You're more likely to get accepted if you have previously published in other places, like Sci Fi lit mags, etc.

I was turned into a newt... I got better :P

Just to clarify, will this be published in WD or was it an online only thing?

Love seeing Jervis still out there mixing it up. Fantastic guy and an unmatchable creative output.

I got a selfie with him last time I was over for an HH meeting, but I'm not posting as I look even chubbier than usual.

Was that a HH or a SoT meeting ;)..... by the way we still have to finish our discussion on 'nu Gi Joe' and the Baroness.... you said that our love was never ment to be as her fine behind belongs to Destro..... im still sadden by this....  >.<

I can't wait for this battle report, the last issue of WD I bought was the AT one and before that was the year before for something or another and before that was a long long long time ago in a land far far away

So much singing of praises, yet his books were often the worst from a balance perspective. He’s the Matt Ward of second edition, except he lavished ridiculous fluff and rules on Space Wolves. Then again, much like with Matt Ward, once you ignore the fluff, the crunch was usually fun. Jervis was always the opposite, fantastic background but really dull crunch.

Chambers also pretty much killed Epic, but he gave his mea culpas, so that sin is forgiven.

Afaik, Jervis never beat Andy in a batrep, Andy is just too awesome... Not ashamed to admit I totally fanboid when I met him in 96.
Jervis was pretty chill as well, Im glad they are getting together again even if it is for one game.

I got a hand written reply from Jervis to a rules enquiry in the early 90s. One from Gav Thorpe too :)

I kinda hope Jervis brings some of his 'grey space marines'. I really liked that article where he talked about them (a friend gave me a bunch of his duplicate white dwarfs and I kept two, that was one of them).

I wish I could be more like that.

Or like how Wade Pryce is with World Eaters. Or how my friend is passionate about space wolves.

I'm just not...attached to my armies. I wish I was.

My 2nd Ed collection isn’t in arm’s reach at the moment, but I’m 90% sure that Chambers was the lead author on Codex Imperialis and the Chaos Codex at the very least, so...

Also, man, hooray for Jervis Johnson, who is just an incredibly nice fellow.

Codex Imperialis should be required reading for pretty much the entire community.

Yes cause most of the things from RT and 2nd edition Codex Imperialis are coming back to 40k since some years
Basically soon we will need just arbites and squats to have all we had during 1st/2nd edition of 40k

You'll be pleased to hear that 2e Codex: Chaos was co-written by Andy Chambers and Jervis Johnson.

I seem to have returned to the hobby and GW at just the right time; am I right in sensing that for a long time things were terrible and GW were horrible, and they have just turned a bit of a corner? I reckon AC would come back for the right project; why wouldn't he?
